The new TOOL album is amazing....I love when people I watch on the tube actually like good music. Gives me a small yet needed boost of faith in mankind. Thank's for the vids. Beautiful blade---I hope to pick up a commando "classic 7" soon.

I love these Randall model one copies. And Blackjack seems to be one of the few who do an amazing convex edge. Bark River also makes awesome MACVSOG knives too. Great video!

I saw a Bark River MACVSOG way back when, in a Smokey Mountain catalog I believe it was (Back when the catalogs were still paper sent to you by mail LOL). It was an absolutely gorgeous knife, but if I recall it was priced around $500. At the time you could get a Randall 1-7 for about that much

Nice, I love the 7 Commando with the leather stacked handle! The only thing I would change is the swedge, I'd sharpen it like a Randall.

That knife was made by Mike Stewart in the Bark River factory for Ken Warner after the investors drove the Effingham operation bankrupt and Warner bought the name. I bought a 1-7 sub-hilt directly from ken. He was a really nice guy. Always answered calls on his business' line personally. The concave clip on the Effingham mades is way deeper than the Warner's. I wish I would have kept that knife. BTW 1 is the model number, 7 (inches) is the blade length

An elatic hair tie or rubber band around the back of the retention strap will make it spring open out of the way when you deploy the snap.... nice blade

Beautiful knife! I'm wanting the Blackjack 127 bowie..it's kind of like a grail for me, but I want the black micarta or Ivory micarta like yours, with the swelled handle configuration, which are pretty hard to find. I only can find green micarta or stacked leather, at least in the handle configuration I want. Although you may be right about the sheath's retention strap, I've found that most Bark River sheaths come very tight, which they do on purpose, because the leather will stretch over time and become loose. What I do with them is wet the strap and stretch it to fit, then once it dries, it fits perfect, and stays that way over time. I'm not sure if yours could have been done like that or not since I don't have one myself to compare, but just a heads up in case you ever buy another Bark River knife.

I had that issue with my Bravo 1, at first it took some work but I could get it snapped and eventually it was fine. This retention strap was not even in the ballpark and incidentally is made by Matt Martin/Vehement Knives. Gorgeous sheath, but intended for the commando style handle. That 127 is beautiful, I love it in the stag, but then what don't I love in stag?

At least the retaining strap got sorted out. "Baton"? Why would you even mention that? Abusing any knife is stupid. Glue some leather over that rivet. Or it will scatch the handle up. Randell made knives are not worth what they charge. No soldier could afford that when they are supposed to be combat knives. Total rip off.
@TheKnifeJunkie
@TheKnifeJunkie 3 жыл бұрын
I only mention batoning because that is the only reason I could imagine for not sharpening this swedge. That's disappointing to hear about Randalls... though I still hope to, one day, come into one without buying it myself.
@eac1235
@eac1235 3 жыл бұрын
No soldier could afford? That's a uninformed statement. I guess you haven't seen what a E 2 makes today? Give me a break. Not worth it is funny as well. Go check out what other handmade knives cost. Hell even Grayman knives have gone up in price to the point of being ridiculous they're probably the toughest but damned ugly. Just curious have you ever owned a Randall,?
