I had pretty bad beard dandruff and rash, started using cerave lotion after a water wash in the morning followed with tacrolimus. At night I would use either nizoral shampoo or head and shoulders shampoo, then a conditioner I leave in for 5 minutes then wash out, then cerave lotion, and then a little beard oil that has no fragrances or essential oils.

I would recommend shampooing daily. Just use like a dime size amount of an organic beard shampoo. Afterwards Apply a beard or organic coco or mango butter. Comb or brush it through. If you do it once a day you’ll see dramatic changes in about a week . and a half. I recommend staying away from oils if you have a dryness problem. I’d would highly recommend staying away from an oil. Your hair produces it naturally and it’s in the wash and butter. Less is more
@JDP2393
@JDP2393 10 ай бұрын
Don’t think this is correct at all. I do agree with beard washing with a gentle beard wash daily, or at least 5 times a week on days you sweat/work/get the beard dirty. This part is fine. However you should absolutely be using oils. High quality beard oils are super important and if you have a dryness problem there are specific oils that will help with that. Your beard pulls your sebum oil away from your face, as your beard gets longer your face will typically get itchier and you’ll have worse dandruff. Oils like castor oil, hemp seed oil, rice bran oil, vitamin e oil, jojoba oil, Argan oil etc will keep your face smooth and nourish your skin/beard hairs. Oil is good, just make sure you get an oil blend that fits dry skin rather than oily skin.

My main issue is finding trusted brands in the beard care scene. There’s so many flooding the market that might be pure crap. Then even big names that you get in other markets for hair and skin make their own products. I have no idea which is good! I just saw a beard moisturiser for £25 on Amazon. Never heard of the brand. Reviews on that site are trash. Do I take a punt and potentially waste money? It’s tough.

Thanks for the video. So if you wash your beard 2-3 times a week. what happens on the other days, do you abstain from water touching it? Should you wet it everyday?
@peoplez129
@peoplez129 3 жыл бұрын
You should wash a beard every day. It just depends on the degree of washing you do. You only need to really do deep cleansing every other day. But it really depends on what you're washing with. Most soap/shampoo simply suck. It's just chemicals designed to temporarily coat your hair with something to make it shiny. He's wrong when he talks about natural oils being stripped. That's not the issue, your body readily makes tons of oils every day. The issue isn't drying out, the issue is many soaps coat the skin in something that never completely washes off. So you end up with oil remaining on your skin for too long, encased and filling your pores with these dry residues, keeping your natural oils from escaping your pores. Most soaps, especially cheap ones, are closer to dishwashing/laundry detergent, in bar form. That's NOT actually soap in the traditional sense. REAL soap isn't JUST a surfactant. Real soap reacts and binds with things. Real soap is things like fat/oil/charcoal based soap. The rise of consumerism has replaced soap with artificial chemicals that don't do the same things as classic soap. And they do that because it's simply cheaper for their bottom line of making money. Surfactants do not bind to things, but rather, push things apart by lowering the surface tension of water. It's similar in appearance to how real soap operates, but it isn't the same process as there is no binding that goes on. And most surfactants in use are artificial chemicals, not natural. Now here's the real secret, other than sulfate free shampoo/conditioner (which is more for softening hair rather than moisturizing it), one of the best bar soaps one should be using is castile soaps, because they are a vegetable oil based soap, and works great for daily beard washing. They clean quick and great, while keeping the skin oiled. If you've ever washed with the typical cheap brands of bar soap without scrubbing, you'll typically still feel oil on your skin even after rinsing, even after letting it sit a while before rinsing. This is because it's a surfactant, root word: Surface. It only affects primarily the surface, it does not react to get deep down to clean, because it doesn't bind with anything. With castile soap, you don't even need to scrub, you can just hand rub the soap on, rinse after a few seconds, and ALL the oily feel will be gone. THIS is real deep down CLEANSING that will actually open your pores and get bacteria out of them. The brand I use is called "Kirks". Also, stay away from the scented soaps. Most of them are only scented to hide the fact that they aren't actually cleaning you. Rather, the scent is meant to bind to dirt and oils to cover up odors, rather than to remove it entirely. If it's made to make odors stick to you, it's going to make dirt stick to you too. It's like spraying a pile of crap with febreeze.....there's still a pile of crap under there. This is terrible for skin/hair, because it only keeps things on your skin/hair as a buffer, things that will draw moisture from your skin/hair. Don't confuse hair softening conditioners with moisturized either. What it's doing has nothing to do with moisturization. Typically all they do is coat your hair in some slick material that has microscopic bits of silicon in it. In effect, your hair feels softer/smoother because your hair is basically covered in microscopic bits of bouncy/soft silicon that changes the feel. It does protect hair from abrasion, it does make it look shiny, but it is not moisturizing hair. Just like lotion doesn't actually moisturize, what it really does is coat the surface of skin with something that will trap in any moisture your skin naturally releases, forcing it to stay on the skin. But your hair does not release moisture/oils, rather, your hair wicks oil along its surface from your skin. So coating your hair in something does not moisturize it, it's impossible to moisturize hair, only to make hair feel softer/smoother by surface coatings, be that oil or silicon or whatever else.

I disagree with not using hot water to wash. Hot water opens your pores up and helps with exfoliating and gets the “gunk” out of your pores of your skin. Then you forgot about beard conditioner. And I also agree with cold water at this point. I say dry your beard first then apply beard oil and then apply cold water. Cold water does the opposite of hot water, it closes your pores in your skin up and more oil goes on your beard and less in the pores of your skin. The beard oil is more for your skin not the beard itself. The beard butter and or balms are for the beard itself.

I'm a 56 year old viking type white guy with a legend of a beard. I've been using African black soap for years and it's the best thing I've ever used 😎🐐💯

That shea moisture is the truth. I use the retention shampoo and the moisturizing conditioner in concert together and it grows my beard fast and thick. I always get compliments and questions and ive put several people on this 😁😁 then i use hollywood beauty teatree oil daily and blue magic coconut oil grease. Perfect set up for me...

I've double lathered for a long time, single lather honestly never seems to go well, wash always acts super watered down and doesn't like to lather. The second time though it works well.

5:25 wash the first time gets out the gunk. Wash a second time to cleanse it. DUDE! There's only cleansing and sanitizing. What you said is fist time is gonna get clean and second time is for cleaning.
