It also resonates with me. But what I get out of this piece is a sense of overcoming adversity, a widening lens, a sacrifice of the present for the future. It makes me feel strength. @SageHexen if suicide is on your menu, know that there is always a bigger picture. Don't be too proud or too afraid to ask for help. Life is suffering. But finding your way to overcoming that suffering is what makes you - you. It's why we're all here.

This is about the heat death of the universe. She is the Cosmos contemplating her own inevitable submission to the law of entropy. We (i.e. whatever intelligent life is in the universe) are the guy asking "YOU'RE FINE WITH THAT?!?!!". We play an insignificant role with even less agency. She is wondering, what is the point of it all? In the end the Cosmos concludes that if this is all there is, or if after the heat death of the universe everything collapses until there is another Big Bang, still ...She hopes we live.

Also If you listens to the full album, which is designed to play in a loop, it seems the band believes there's no end and we are infinite.

@@bogdanshevchenko this song kind of gives me a sense of hope and letting go. Not for myself, but for others, like hugging a friend goodbye for the last time ever being a good thing. I take it as a song about transitions in life. About letting go of your baggage, of your past. Take it from the words: "If this is it, if this is all there is (what already happened, the past), i hope you live (live as a memory)". There's this duality between these verses.

Yes 😭 i feel like I'm waking up recently. I stopped listening to music like I used to. I still enjoyed nice songs(Coke Studio Pakistan shoutout!), but not this genre. I grew up on Rage, Tool, etc. But since I left my old life behind, in order to finally live, I haven't listened to this genre as much. So happy the algo finally hit the right spot! Seems they've tweaked it recently bc I've been getting low view count vids recommended more. I think tiktok has strongly influenced YT's decision to tweak it more democratically. As an older brother, who struggles with alcoholism, please don't stop trying. My siblings mean the world to me, and I'm sure he feels the same. Sending the best vibes.

I'm a non practicing alcoholic who's been sober a little over a year and active in AA. I'm lucky to be alive. I've struggled with depression lifelong and traumas happened, turned to alcohol the same as your brother. I wouldn't listen to anyone but I ended up getting alcohol induced hepatitis and I just wanted to be free more than Anything. I'm going to pray for your brother that the desire to stop drinking and be free would be his, and he will take action. I can also understand how you feel as a sibling...I have a brother with schizophrenia who's been off his meds about 5 years and my family and I can't be in contact because he's dangerous. My heart goes out to you my friend. Please take care of yourself and find as much joy and beauty in this world as you can.❤

Get him to detox and a treatment center if you can. Just keep in mind he has to truly want the help. I was in the same boat 2 1/2 years ago but after 90 day treatment and realizing that's not who I was I'm still sober and just doing the right things. Wish you all the best because you're worth it 👆

This comment hits home. You're not alone. My older brother deals with his inner depression and demons the same way as yours, by keeping it all inside and trying to drown it with alcohol. This has been how it is for 20 years. Just know that just the fact that you care, listen and are there is enough. For me one of the most frustrating parts is me expressing my concern and him just brushing it off. But at least I've said something, and that's all I can do if he doesn't want to talk. At least he knows the opportunity is always there. We can't live their life for them. Remember to take care of yourself first. It's ok to be happy about and enjoy things in your own life. But it is painful. I'm sorry you and your brother are going through this.

I lost my sibling to anorexia and drugs, she absolutely cut off contact and drank herself to death. Be a thorn in their side, u can't make it worse if u show up and just love him. I hope he lets u in.

If this is it, if this is all there is, both living and dying are meaningless. If this is a universe without a grounding to all meaning, then concepts like life and death, good and bad, love and hate, beauty and horror, all of it is simply the arbitrary conceptual convulsions of the deluded beings secreted by death clock deterministic fizzing of physics and chemistry hallucinating self awareness and play acting agency. All while suffering greatly. A nihilistic mad house of capricious pain wrapped in a cosmic joke. "Full of sound and fury, signifying.. nothing.. " to be sure. But I do not hold to that. I cannot, for one second, accept that this is all there is. Why? More than a few reasons, but here are few reasons.. Everything that begins to exist has a cause. The universe began to exist. Therefore the universe has a cause. This is known as the Kalaam Cosmological Argument. It's one among a family of arguments from Contingency. They seek to reason about the existence of things that owe the explanation of their existence to something else, and what we could logically derive from that analysis. By the universe, I mean all space, time, and matter. The cause of space, time, and matter must therefore be emptied of all of them, as in, the cause is spaceless, timeless, and immaterial. But what spaceless, timeless, immaterial entities are there? Numbers perhaps? I don't buy it, actually, but even if they do exist in that sense, the number 33822 cannot CAUSE anything. It simply describes, or measures.. never causes.. So what else? I, and many good philosophers much smarter than I can only come up with one other good explanation: A Mind. A timeless, spaceless, immaterial, uncaused, necessary being of incomprehensible intelligence, complete agency and immeasurable ability. Yahweh, or as many like to call him, God. So if Yahweh exists, which seems to be the best explanation of the cause of the universe and why there is anything instead of nothing at all, then we have to examine another important question: how has this being interacted with what it caused? Well, there are some pretty solid evidences of a first century ancient near eastern man who went around claiming to be this being. That's pretty crazy. He'd have to make some sort of drastic, unbelievable demonstration of who he said he was, or he'd be yet another lunatic. So, in this case, he DID. Jesus of Nazereth, was crucified under the roman prefect Pontius Pilate at the behest of the religious leaders of his own nation, because in their tradition, no one gets away with saying the kind of absurd claims this Jesus was making without being put to death for blasphemy. You don't just get to call yourself the uncreated, most high God, and pretend like that's just going to be fine, not in that context. He died, and was buried in the tomb of a Jewish religious leader named Joseph who was secretly a follower, and a giant round stone was rolled into place, one that no one could just easily roll away. A few days later, a group of the women who followed him before he died came back and claimed that Jesus had physically risen from the dead to the rest of the dejected and fearful men who had spent the last 3 years devoting every moment to the service of the one they thought for sure this time would save them from Roman oppression. They were rebels with a disgraced and murdered messiah, and their hopes dreams were broken and as dead as their teacher, and it was most likely going to be the same for them all soon. No that couldn't be true, they thought, they're just women, their testimony wouldn't even hold up in court half a man's testimony, why would they believe such outlandish nonsense? No one gets up from the dead.. at least not until the Final Day, the Great Resurrection, where all who die would rise together out of the depths of Sheol, and be given new life and new bodies to be with God. There was no reason to believe these women, these men had no concept of a single person resurrection... But soon the women weren't the only ones who started seeing the risen Jesus. Soon it was two of them, then all eleven, then up to 500 people at one time. Was He just a Ghost? Well no, He ate fish.. ghosts don't eat .. and ghosts certainly don't invite you to put your fingers in the giant holes in their hands or the gaping laceration in his side... But if God exists, and Jesus Christ rose from the dead, then Christianity is true. If that's true, then this is NOT all there is.. and we have deeply failed the standard that God has laid out for us. But, the good news, the Gospel, is that living is given as an option and opportunity to become sons and daughters of the family of the Most High God, if only we let Jesus bear the legal penalty of our missing the mark, and according to ancient scripture, offending a perfect being comes at the punishment of death. But Jesus took that punishment. He died so we could live. I hope you consider all of this honestly. I hope you see the hope in what seemed so hopeless. I hope you become part of the family of the source of life, Himself. This isn't it. This isn't all there is. I hope you live.
