Never thought about this before, but i you're right... I'm scandinavian and i love hammers. But this cannot just be true for Scandinavians? What does the rest of the world do when they have to repair something, or destroy? Or when you're hunting seals and polarbears? Or go fishing? Arguing with your neighbour? Hammers are used for almost anything...

best part of the build was having your son help ! My 23 y.o. is finally wanting to smith with me, but he wants to make knives, which I have not done. Good time for both of us to learn !

There is something so amazingly seductive about the sound of a Bêchè air hammer! I could listen to it all day. That hammer is so amazingly beautiful, not to mention the grapes and melon. Thank you for these wonderful videos.

I really enjoy how these movies are silent and also a great tutorial. Definitely helped me on some tong practice. Really like how you make the chalk notes on the anvil. Very helpful!

Iv'e never seen that technique used with two wedges before it looks like it works great. Amazing job!

I have seen a simmilar technique where the second wedge is steel, but the part about using wood for both was new to me.

I found a tinning hammer at age 8 or 9 never knew what it was … still have it. Now I'm 63. Some things seem to stick around.

This is miles beyond in quality and craftsmanship compared to Chinese products.

You're right - this is a work of art, not a product. Not really comparable to Chinese products, or any other "products" for that matter. There's at least a couple of hundred dollars in labor in this hammer, not to mention the value of the artistry/craftsmanship. And the Chinese products aren't so much "bad", they're just low on the cost/value curve - and that's what a lot of people want.

I wish one of these would be under my Xmas tree this in the coming holidays. Thank you for letting us watch a master at work. Oh, and the grapes and melons were the kickers to watch you savor the fruit of your work. There are so many things right about this video - blacksmithing skill, growing his own produce, teaching his son the trade ... and even his oven his made by Husqvarna. It does not get more Swedish than that. :)
