Performed live at Montreux Jazz Club, Switerzland, Seun Kuti and the Egypt 80 Band delivers a masterpiece of original Afrobeats.
Seun Kuti is the last son of the the legendary pioneer of Afrobeats, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. He inherited the Egypt 80 Band from his father, and has since carried the pan African flavored identity band to perform across Europe, Asia, America and his native continent, Africa.

The first and only time I watched Seun live was some 30 years ago. He performed at his father’s concert at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He must have been about 7, 8 years old. He was wonderful. Great to see him still belting out real afrobeat music.

I danced on the stage with Seun about 7-8 years ago at a World Cafe Live show. I became a fan of Fela in the 70s while in college and have his first albums. My Nigerian friends turned me onto to Fela. I never got to see him in person because the tickets always sold out in an hour, but I was thrilled to see Seun. The young people made sure to get me on the stage when he called the audience up to dance. Lol! I looked GOOD in my sharp African dress and I was jammin so hard he had to put me off the stage! LMAO! I had a ball! God Bless him for keeping his father's music alive.

I hope everyone watching this clip understand that there is a difference between fixed in music and orchestrated music Seun depicts musicianship as much as it's his inheritance he's been responsible enough to practice the discipline of musicianship.....which many of our artist don't have. Theres no backtracking pure originality afrocentric jazz.
