I remember the day I got the invitation to a BBQ in my neighborhood. I was nervous to go but eventually synched myself up enough to walk down the block to join, I hadn't been in a large social gathering in a while, it was 2022 and we were really cautious of the pandemic and all. But I figured just going to a small backyard BBQ would be fine. But once I arrived something felt amiss, I could tell the energy was weird like everyone was on one radio frequency that I couldn't tune into. Then, suddenly, three young Swedish boys came out and started playing the most beautiful music I had ever heard, and then I drained, we all drained. Everyone in that backyard started to drain, and I will never forget my time at the Drainer BBQ.

im glad you actually talked a bit about the lyrics cus i think bladee’s lyrical style or the ”bladeeisms” as you called it is one of the most important aspect of why ppl enjoy his music and it's definitely influential on artists like sematary/haunted mound and a lot of underground rappers. and i also think crafting your own universe of references and ideas really makes ppl obsess way more about your art

Fantano completely missed the point of this album. He made a 30-song album to highlight that he just turned 30. This is the theme of the album, to reflect on his life now that he is 30, and this is why he went back to his old style. He also hints that this is his last project in this style in the album. It’s like a farewell to an era. At least, this is how I see it.

i'm a big drainer and the long tracklist definitely made it harder for any particular tracks to stand out as instant classic hits for me. might change my mind on second or third listen. personally i'd rather have longer songs with a shorter tracklist if bladee's gonna make an hour long album

man i would've loved to hear some more thoughts on the tracks u actually did like, felt like u spent most of this review talking about the length of the project or the brevity of the songs themselves and like i get it. but i think vocally and stylistically he tried some interesting stuff here that added something new to his catalogue, eg tracks like I Dont Wanna Hang Out, Flexing & Finessing, Red Cross & River Flows In You. I also think there's something to say about the James Ferraro production credits and the way they worked on the transitions for this mixtape, it really flows in a cool way similar to Icedancer and makes the sonic similarity or brevity of some tracks still work well within the album context. And I know u dont fw Icedancer or any of his early stuff, but "pitchy autotune" etc is part of what makes the projects good. The "flaws" are all part of the appeal. But I suppose u know that by now

As of late I've hardly ever listened through an entire album, just cause I enjoy the variety of playlists. Then this comes along. Did I think after 12 tracks that it had to be the outro ? yes. Did I still listen through all of the 30 tracks without skipping any? YES. Maybe 1 or 2 weaker tracks over all, but extremely consistent and creative imo, IF the vibe is something you can get caught up in
