Spyderco is the kind of company that America NEEDS more of...Spyderco couldn't be what it is without the innovative ideas and design skills of Sal and Eric but, they also clearly have a skilled, experienced, hard working team of employees that have been treated fairly allowing the company to grow and retain their desired levels of quality.....it is a pleasure to spend MY hard earned money on their products...it is a distinct feeling you get from holding and using a Spyderco knife...only the BEST knife companies out there convey their passion through their products..and that is an art in itself

@@kalijasin Absolutely not the last. There are plenty left, but spyderco does stand pretty high up the list. The Glesser's passion, dedication and honesty is something that everyone can learn from and should strive to match. With the knife world full of Greg Medfords and Mick Striders, its nice to have Sal and Eric to do their part in bringing our hobby out of the mud that certain makers seem proud to drag it into.

That sharpening robot is the coolest thing ever! It also explains why a few of my latest Spydies have had nearly perfect edge bevels :)

ApexKnives Really? Why is it so important that your edge is not off 1°? I’ll take an edge created by a human please. Not only is it traditional but it’s rather amazing that it still takes place, and happens less and less. It’s just something unique. Plenty of automation in this world already and there will always be more and more. Furthermore, I find that real knife users create their own edge angle for their specific tasks once they bring a knife home...So what a robot does to the edge isn’t that important. If you like these videos watch the 3 part one on GEC or The KZfaq video on Puma. Then decide what you want to do. Help somebody buy another machine or support humans creating knives.

Every few months this video pops up in the auto play and once it starts I watch it all the way through. Each time it reminds me what makes Spyderco so different from many of the other “big” production company, which is the Glesser’s commitment to both making a performance based knife and their pride in doing so. These days when I think of other brands like Benchmade, Kershaw, etc. there’s no face to the brand name giving a true commitment to the product and customer. Long live Spyderco!

Really appreciate that he's trying something different with his kid and is completely open about it. Basically did a round-a-bout way of saying, "This is not a family dynasty we're trying to build, this is a company with a focus and goal that needs to be maintained through high standards. Maybe he'll like knives and work towards being part of the company...maybe he won't and either way is excellent!" I have a feeling his kid is going to do very well in life with a parent that has a view like that.

Two years ago I visited the Golden operation. I was so impressed I had to break down and buy another knife while I was there. I bought the Manix 2 sprint run knife burled g-10. S90V steel, what an awesome knife. I EDC it's big brother daily, the Manix 2 XL. My first folding knife ever was the Endura . I then started my knife adventure. I have purchased all the big names and stayed mostly around the $300.00 mark. So it's safe to say I have a lot of really neat knives. But I eventually circled back to Spyderco, made on planet Earth. For the last four years my everyday carry has had a spyder hole. Your family owned business is an AMERICAN success story that is very great and very inspiring . I think I might go on line and buy a paramilitary. ;)

About 28 yrs ago not knowing much about Spyderco I went to their parking lot sale for 2nds and ended up leaving $600 lighter as the quality of those knives was exceptional and made great Christmas Presents. Since that time found the Paramilitary a great addition to EDC, being a first responder added last year their automatic knife, that is exceptional and razor sharp. With any folder type knife the lock up is to me the most important aspect to keep one's fingers. Never disappointed in their products.

Hands down Spyderco is my favorite with Benchmade a close second. If you’re a knife lover like me wether or not you like Spyderco knives you have to appreciate how much they’ve helped innovate so much of what every other knife you buy today uses something that was inspired by Spyderco like pocket clips and easy one hand open just to name a few. The first knife that got me hooked on knives was a Spyderco Native early model bought it at Walmart in the 90s. It was made in America and I it cost around $40.00. They no longer make or sell it as far as I know but it wasn’t made to take apart like they are now.

I have several Spyderco knives but one of them I have never used and probably never will. It was a gift from our Fire Marshal and has our department logo on one side and the other side states LSB (Life Safety Bureau) and the year we were given the knifes. It has a short blade so we could carry it when traveling and not have to worry about any blade length restrictions (even though we were exempt when working) It is one of 9 items that I own that I consider as a decorative item. Too cool to cut with but I have carried it for hundreds of days and know it would function if I needed it..

I remember years ago, the first Spyderco I saw my comment was, "what an ugly knife." All the years that have gone by and I still had the same feelings towards them. Three months ago I was in a local gun and knife store and asked the clerk if I could look at one of those knives with the big hole in the blade. I don't know if it's because I'm older and wiser now, but when I stuck the edge of my thumb in the spider hole and gave it a flick and felt the ergo's of the knife in my hand, I raised an eyebrow and said that feels nice. And the hole all made sense now. I knew it was used to deploy the blade but didn't think it worked that good, until I gave it a flick. It was actually easier than any of my thumb stud blades to open. I was hooked. I decided right then I was going to buy one and give it a try. Problem was, there were two I kept switching back and forth, trying to pick which one I wanted and couldn't make up my mind. In the end I wound up purchasing both, and am very happy I did. All my other favorite EDC folders have now been set on the back burner. I'm now carrying the Spyderco's more than any of them. Great knives, great company, great people.
