Here's my in-depth conversation with Blake Mills & Chris Weisman about Blake's "Jelly Road" album.
We talk about each track and Blake & Chris often take out their guitars to show specific things in the music. It was so great to talk with them! Deepest gratitude to Blake & Chris for letting me study this music ahead of its release. I had the greatest time diving into this incredible record.

related to the notation conversation at ca. 2:15:00: I used to "engrave" music for other composers (it was on a computer, so, just using notation software to clean up handwritten scores, and generate score/parts). One of my teachers had a rule of thumb that he shared with me: if there's more than 5 different chromatic notes per measure, then go ahead and provide courtesy accidentals for each note. That way people don't have to remember that it's still A# or whatever if things get hairy and there are a ton of chromatic notes. This was a rule of thumb, not a "rule.", but I still use it. Amazing interview, thanks so much for this. So much generosity behind this, and the album is a joy.

hab mir dieses interview im verlauf von ca. 2 monaten angeschaut. 10min hier, 20min da, nur 5min dort weil ich los musste und grade die letzten 20min. die schallplatte wartet in meinem zimmer, ich hab sie bisher nur ausgepackt. wow, was für ein unfassbares interview... reichhaltig, lustig, intim - alles gleichzeitig. ich fand die verschabschiedung und die letzten minuten zwischen euch (inkl. kyle) sehr besonders, bisschen gänsehaut hatte ich. schade, dass ich jetzt durch bin. danke pablo für dieses tolle interview! :)

Great interview. Did anyone catch the name of the poem which inspired “The Fez”? Would love to hear a solo piano remake of this album by Pablo.

I'm a huge Blake Mills fan and absolutely love this record. I've never listened to any of Chris's albums, where should I start? His bandcamp catalog is large.
