My OC would dislike Discord without really showing it.

SwordTune that’s not what happened she banished him but he wasn’t dead, he just couldn’t go to the school. But he found a way since he’s discord. And when she “Brought him back” she was just un-banishing him and there was no need for him to use his ghost instead of his body anymore. Therefore she did not kill him and his actions where not justified at all

It took me until the 5th time I rewatched it.

When I watched the reaction I noticed something about the Bugbear's behavior. After Starlight blasted it with a normal energy laser(Albeit it looked a bit more intense than usual--probably due to her anger peaking), it took ran off. Whereas the one in "Slice of Life" fought all of the Mane Six at once and didn't even flinch or try to back away. What I'm saying is that Discord's bugbear was probably a lot weaker or less aggressive than the other one, so even if it did try to hurt the students, they could have fought it off without Starlight's help. Although I do wish there was a line in the episode where Discord implies that the students aren't in any "Real" danger or something like that. ...Probably a line that got cut from the episode last minute or something.

From Discord's point of view, I definitely can understand how he could be upset at not being I to the school. BUT given that Discord wanted to change things as soon as he got there, and how he acted when he was told "no", it's wonder they didn't ask him to help out at the school, and that's if he's even showed any signs that he might even want to do it, which would've made it his own fault even more. Not to mention that at this point, Twilight has a much closer bond with Starlight then with Discord, even to the point that Twilight and Starlight's bond has become a sisterly bond, and she KNOWS Starlight would do her best to run the school the way she wants, and not change something just because she feels like it. With Discord, as unpredictable as he can be, the question isn't CAN he run the school how Twilight wants it to be run, but will he feel like doing it her way?

@@Gokuvstheworld yeah, but Twilight hadn't once given him a place in a school that was "open for everyone." And while he was making changes, gravity being optional (as in a student would be given an option, it's not like he said "no gravity") and adding a mascot where there was previously none aren't the most intrusive changes. He only starts doing bigger sweeps after he gets angry. Which I won't defend him for.

Josh Blackwell exactly, as much as I love Starlight her magic couldn't touch Discord unless he lets it.

Given how much he was reeling from the power of that blast, I highly doubt he expected it to be as intense as it was though.

Matthew Crombie that may be true, since Starlight is easily the most powerful unicorn, but none the less a spell like that would only affect Discord of he allowed it to.

same here. He was more of an antagonistic dick than a reformed spirit of chaos. I enjoy his antics, but as long as nobody gets hurt or almost gets hurt. HE DIDN'T EVEN APOLOGIZE!!!!! Why was it Starlight that had to apologize!? That's like a metaphor for victim blaming. Even if it was to defuse the situation, that is so wrong! Discord learned nothing and was rewarded for bad behavior. These writers for season 8 suck! ):(

This episode would have been great if Discord saw how out of line he was. I thought that was where it was going, but, it just fell so hard.

Thank you Ashe Bennett! I didn't understand why Starlight had to apologize to him....If anything Fluttershy his supposed girlfriend(Not exactly canon but it's been hinted at) should have invited him to the school....But he totally went the WRONG way about it! This episode made me rethink forgiving Discord, I never really liked him, but I did forgive him so that should count for something

A reason Starlight apologized was because while Discord didn't exactly make it clear, he was giving signs that something was bothering him, but Starlight didn't pick it up, which she more or less said at the end. And if you know Starlight's character, you should know that if she feels like she's in the wrong in any way, she's usually gonna apologize, even if no one would fault her if she didn't do it. It's one of the reasons why she's one of my favorite characters in the show. Though, I do call BS in how the episode's ending made HER look too much like the villain, and made Discord look like the victim: that's what I didn't like. But as for Starlight apologizing in itself, it really makes sense for her to want to do it, and it checks out.

I personally thought the maps magic would be too powerful for Discord, but this episode proved me wrong.

It's possible he didn't really do anything to the map exactly. If he can create the illusion that their cutie marks are glowing then he can totally create an illusion that the map has activated when it hasn't.

wendyheatherwood yes exactly, and what I'm saying is the Map didn't stop Discord so that he would go meet with Starlight Glimmer and learn a friendship lesson in the process.

It just needed it's ending sorted out, unless the lesson is that when you're the powerful one in a relationship, you get to be an asset and other people still have to kiss up to you.
