Before, the only times anyone was referred to by last name was when a character would later refer to them by first name (ex: Mitsuru with Yukari in P3; Yosuke with Yu in the anime)

No, it's because that's how the Japanese formally address each other, they never refer to each other by first name unless they're _really_ close (like Yu and Yosuke, or Chie and Yukiko).

Well his Distortion Drives and his Astral are the same, because he always amps up when using them. Sort of enforcing that feeling of his not really trying until he's using any of them. But his intros and outros, he's more lax. At least that's how I remember it in Chronophantasma.

I know your comment is old, but yes. Chie sounds off, like her voice is being exaggerated. Yosuke sounds too young and less refined than usual, but this might have been intentional in case Mercury Black ever got added because they share the same English VA and it would be easy to get the voices mixed up, especially since the normal performances aren't that different. Yukiko, on the other hand, I have no clue what her voice direction was about. I'm almost tempted to say that it was actually Yukiko's shadow in disguise with how overly exaggerated her voice was 95% of the time. Naoto sounds like she went back to trying to hide as guy again, which doesn't make sense since this is supposed to be around Arena. I think Kanji, Yu, and Teddie are the only three who I don't find odd and actually sound normal.

AnonEars Hyde and Ruby intro conversation actually changed. Hyde last line in original Japanese is “Don’t drag my feet away!” Which translates on not being a burden. The change is to make Hyde sounds a little bit flustered.

Because these are all premade assets from an already finished game, being used to compile a brand new game. In order to use the Persona 5 cast they would need to create brand new assets, all of which are expensive and would boost the price of this game to a full $60, or be incredibly expensive DLC that, as the data has shown, will most likely cause even more alienation than the dirt cheap, pocket change DLC that we got already did.

There's also a case to be made that this is a fighting game that fans have been asking for for a very long time. Back in 2012 when P4 Arena actually released, there was this huge surge in BlazBlue x P4A art, or dream fighting games, and that only got worse with more 2D sprite based fighters like Melty Blood, Guilty Gear, Akatsuki Blitzkampf, and yes, obviously, Under Night. Knowing ATLUS and ASW, they're probably just saving the P5 cast for their own fighting game where they'll introduce the P3, P4 and hopefully even give us some nudges at the P1/2 cast.
