Blaze's beautiful song from his Live at the Austin Outhouse album. Here he performs it, 1988, in Houston for Hank Sinatra. Available on Hank's "Simply Blaze" DVD. Posted on the 25th anniversary of Blaze's death.

I agree about Blaze , Zandt and ( kind of ) about Prine. My only objection,wa, that while I love and play his music, the self deprecating jokes got to be overdone and not really needed at all. After awhile , they were cringeworthy. Sorry for the negativity, but it’s a truth for me…

I watched the sun come up today The wind swept all the clouds away The Sky did turn from grey to blue As my thoughts did turn to you The Birds sang songs we used to sing memories of you to bring soft and sweet and clear and high the day is slowly passing by tonight Ill be alone and blue with empty arms that long for you I only hear the lonesome sound since you left our little town I don't know why you went away and nothing's all you had to say not a word comes through here about you and soon my heart will break in two Tonight I’ll be alone and blue with empty arms that long for you I only hear the lonesome sound since you left our little town since you left our little town

In January of 2020, i was going through Netflix looking for a movie to watch on my phone. I came across a guy on the cover with a guitar. I love music movies. Plus my dad has been playing guitar since he was fourteen. So thats where i gotten to love country since i was a youngin cause of my pops. Kenny Rogers The Gambler was my first recollection of my dad playing the guitar. Sometime in 79 or 80. Anyway when i started watching this movie called Blaze. And seen it was based on the life of Blaze Foley i quickly got interested in it from the beginning. Man the first song i heard on the movie was Picture Cards Can't Picture You. Going through a break up too at the time of 9 years. It brought tears to my eyes. One of the best songs i ever heard from a country singer. But yeah thats when I first heard of the man called Blaze. After I watched the movie. Immediately i told my dad about him. My dad also liked his songs. What's crazy is that my dad has always played in pubs n bars in Texas. Mostly here in San Angelo Tx. My dad has a way of picking that guitar as Blaze does. Yeah Great Music Blaze. R.I.P

@@Isahiyella I do have some on TikTok. My dad had surgery over 3 years ago. He had cancer cells under his tongue. So having done surgery and chemo he pulled through fine. But damn!!!! The doctor in Dallas assured him that he would be back to normal within a year and a half. His tongue isn't what it used to be. He has no feeling. No taste. Still can't eat solid food. Still feeds himself through a tube next to his stomach. But he still sings. Everyone always asking him to play when he comes to town. His old friends and family.

So i havent been feeling particularly great for a couple of months now. I cry a lot, and i cry while listening to music. But i feel like ive never really cried because of a song, if that makes any sense. A couple days ago i was listening to if 'i could only fly' and saw this in the recommended. So i listened and i was feeling fine, but at the two-minute mark i just burst into tears and i couldnt stop for what seemed like ten minutes Jackson C Frank's, Van Zandt's, and now Foley's music are making the day a bit more bearable. Its a shame i'll never see any of them live

There's so much crap out there hogging the bandwidth that when you discover gold like this you pounce on it. I'm only now realizing how many of his songs I already love from other singers. They are usually more polished than his singing, which is raw and emotional. (Great analogy, btw.)

Sheer brilliance, the man has soul, can really move you with just a guitar and his voice.

I love this man, never met him. My loss. But if I ever did meet him, we'd play music, have fun making memories to talk about.... I love that he loved his woman so dearly. I just love the way he puts feelings and good and bad times to life through music. It's kind of like I know him because he sings about what's in my innermost thoughts right out there for everyone to hear.

From talking with his friends, I have no doubt that you and Blaze would have been great friends for each other. Thanks for your comment :)

I can't go to sleep until I'm so tired I can't stay awake. ME TOO! Really! For real. I sleep at 3-4 am. I read the bible and other books or I write songs, poems, words and play my guitar. I wake up at 10 O clock or so. Sorry if I wasted your time. Just wanted to say to ya'll, Blaze ain't the only one. OK, nuff said.

Thank you Blaze - you've saved me from certain death. I owe my life to you. I used to hate 'country', but now, I think I'll write a few songs of my own 😉

A real authentic, homegrown, organic song without pretentiousness and phony make-believe. This is the real deal. The way handmade songs used to be sung. Long ago. When memories were displayed in oval frames, and captured in tones of sepia.
