We combined best practices for a specific group of learners.
In this lecture by Bart de Pau:
- intensive courses vs. once per week
- the advantage of courses with accommodation
- social atmosphere: study and live together
- fun (class/materials)
- own materials (made for intensive courses in this environment)
- teachers (interaction and incubator of ideas)
- blended learning (flipped classroom)
- using an instruction language vs full immersion at beginner levels
- higher educated students
- incentive (inner motivation vs 'being sent')
- other

From their website: Don’t book our courses if you don’t master English We use English as the instruction language on the lower levels -> from level 1 to 3 (0 to A2+). Many studies have proven that using an instruction language to explain things is more efficient than full immersion (where the teacher only speaks in Dutch). That doesn’t mean that the teacher only speaks in English, but during instruction she/he will. We strongly believe in this approach. Only on the higher levels 4, 5, R (A2/B1/B2) the teacher speaks only in Dutch.
