@@TheRoyalSkies When I export animations using your driver setups, the first frame of all animations are without the drivers applied. This means that all animations pop or jitter in parts like the legs when exported. I think it's because in blender they do not update the dependencies or something unless I start to move something, then they pop into place. Do you have a solution for this? Do you have the same problems when using drivers?

For 2D characters used in Unity. Prior to exporting, go to edit mode, select a bone and make sure "Roll" is set to 0. Repeat for every bone. In export settings (Animation tab) set Simplify to "0"

literally so fast and easy. granted, im having alittle trouble getting ALL the animations to export right, but i dont mind having to export them one by one since im just making some custom animations for a vrchat avatar im working on. no skin off my bones for sure. glad i found your tutorials though, was racking my brain about how to animate in blender and export to unity for about a week lol

@1:22, Unchecking the Force Start/End Keying is HIGHLY unadvised with Unity 2020. That option is the equivalent to option "Bake all animation" you find in other 3D software like Maya and 3Ds Max. The problem with the option unchecked is that you'll be unable to access certain type of animations when in Unity even if they were properly animated. Unity will simply trunk down the range of playable frames until it hits a certain repeated motion AND it will remove the actual T-Pose from the animation frame (which might break the Mecanim T-Pose setup.) Do it for a test if you want. Create a basic animation with, initially, a T-Pose. Import it in Unity (2020 or later) with the option unchecked. Unity will warn you that the animation timeline exceed the file's frames and you'll be given the option to fix clamp the timeline. This will remove the initial T-Pose frames and will end the animation around the time you use any kind of poses that comes close to the T-Pose. (In my case, I had a pose for a Shop where I want the character to extend his limbs to allow a selection of each armor parts.) Enabling the "Force Start/End keying" ensure that all keyframes are properly saved and accessed by Unity.

For getting Textures into your .FBX: under Main, select Path Mode: Copy. Be sure to highlight the Embed Textures button. : )

I did this and I'm still not seeing my texture in unity. It just creates a blank material. I've looked everywhere I'm really confused :(

@@ZephniStrife in your fbx folder, does it include a texture and just not assigned or is there not a texture at all? Do you have a material assigned to it in blender before exporting?

Theres no texture at all. In blender i have used texture paint on a landscape, so it must have a material to paint on it no?

Craig Dennis I had this exact same problem when I was using a single texture to map my UVs. (Learned the technique from Imphenzia) So if you were doing the same technique as i was, then: When importing to Unity, manually import the texture you used (palette, whatever) then drag that on the material. Set the texture’s compression to “none”. I hope this helps!

Wow. Honestly, thanks a lot. Been wracking my brain trying to use Stride and just import an animation. Didn't know the export was so messed up it had -Z as default. The rest I don't know. But it works so I'm happy. Thanks again.

whoa, you are a life savior, i was for "fun" (never do it again) purposes, using Blender (export fbx armature rigg) and c++ Assimp (for import a FBX rig), the problem i had its when in c++ the model get animated, the model shrunked, i revisted my code like 100 times (3 days aprox), and surprise the problem was in blender, i didnt apply the scale option (ctrl + a) to the model before join with the armature, a lot of thanks

just a detail that happened to me, some animations came rotated when I import to unity. To solve this it is necessary to rotate the animation on the x axis by -90 degrees, apply all, and then rotate 90 degrees again

I'd like to hear your opinion on Armory and UPBGE. Those two are essentially the independent continuation of the Blender Game Engine, which has been officially discontinued in 2.8. From what I heard, there is no need for exporting/importing, since you can just load your Blender scenes and objects natively into them.

Well I love the videos, they have helped me start blender a year ago. But I'm now moveing a character modle from make human that I put in blender. And made a chest piece, two sholder pads and a wrist piece. Plus made my own hair for it to. But when I put the animations and everything into a fbx. The character is the only one moving. The chest piece and so on are just staying in place. And I have try lots of methods and nothing has worked.

Maybe it's the scale but now when I use the naimations even in blender, the model either flies into space or goes through the ground. Yeah, I was a dum dum and used scale on the armature, did it from the start and it works, thought in unity it doesn't do the entire animation clip. Will have to figure out if I screwed up the import again or if I have to mesh with the animator.

Yea I guess there's an issue with the the blend file I got, it has a bunch of animations but when I get it in Unity it only has one left.

When I import to Unity, my animation plays on part of my model, mainly the wings and tail but it is somewhat stuck in its flight pose, even when in idle animation? Have I perhaps missed something on my setup? Also the model is pointing face upwards on the z axis, and not just flat on the z axis.

When I do it I start of with 500 hundred clips each on doing a different thing only about 6 do what I want but one might have the animations for one thing while another will have animations for something else I see you got only one that controlled everything I think I did every thing right but it didint seem to work anyone know what going on?

and to export to ue4? I would appreciate a tutorial on that since when I export the rigged model the physics don't work in any way, I imagine it must be either the rig I use or blender if you have a problem exporting fbx to ue4. Google traductor

I will have to go over your other videos to see how you make the rig move and work in Unity. For there is one big issue I see in this video, it seem is not an issue with your work flow though. And that is the model looks in this video, after exporting, is facing in the negative z direction. I assume you turned your model a 180 and parented it to an empty object in Unity after the import and moved that empty object instead of the model. The whole Blender to Unity rotation orientation seems to be a big issue. Again, you are making it work, and I will have to see how.

Any idea on how to fix my up and forward axis for my character? When I export things with your settings the y and z axis are switched up. If I try to do anything with the model and armature axis options it completely messes up the model in unity. Every tutorial I found about this only works for simple models but not for characters with rig and ik bones and multiple body pieces as separate meshes..

I tried to do this with a pose that only had two key frames from 0 to 1. I’m pretty sure I did everything correctly, but after the model got imported to Unity it said there was no animation even after checking import animation and Constraints. Any idea why this might have failed?..
