Trying to make a paper model with Blender for the first time.

I've been using Export Paper Model (XPM) add on for about 10 years. I just recently tried running Blender 3.5 after having only used 2.79 on my old machine that died. Whereas 2.79 already had XPM enabled and with its own toolbox panel. I had to go and enable it from the script add-on dialogue. This wasn't too bad, but I have to admit the 2.79 toolbox for XPM already had seam marking and clearing in the panel which was very handy for controlling the output as well as some scaling features to further control the final printout. 3.5 has proved fairly unstable so I'm going to move back to an earlier version, but given that my main interest is paper modeling from meshes (as opposed to NURBS and kin) and not animations and 3d graphics objects as a final product, I'm starting to think that going back to 2.79 might not be a bad idea in spite of the added texturing features in newer versions (the new GUI interface design starts off with 2.8)

but after I rotate or scale some vertices I can't export paper model, it reports" invalid input error" the model contains 2 twisted polygons. Could you tell me how to solve that? thanks.

In order for the addon to work properly, you first have to control the faces. Active in Edit Mode, selecting the faces, in Overlays - Mesh Analysis with the Type: Distortion. It will color the faces with twisted polygons. Select those faces and in the Mesh menu: Clean Up - Make Planar Faces. If it still gives error, go to the Face Menu - Triangulate faces. It will surely work. Greetings!

How did you get the texture (the colours and patterns) on the printout? With my model it just prints a all white model..

It's in the documentation. You have to texture the model, then choose textures "from materials" on the right bar when you go to save the export. For mine just now, I used texture paint to make an image texture, then applied it to the object using node editor. SVG export works

@@makeitreality457 Thank you for this indication because it helped me a lot and I've managed to export my cube with some decorations.
