I think this needs to be said: Between your "everything included" tutorials, J.T.'s speakers, and Nick Santos' decoder buddies, I have learned about some products and techniques that enabled me to attempt and successfully complete DCC Sound installations that I would not have attempted not that long ago. I've got one of these BLI engines in the Erie roadname with the square tender. I would like to convert it into a C&O engine with a vandy tender ,...and that sound system.

I just watched some of your videos that were posted in MRH forum. I am impressed with you presentation, CAMERA work, and knowledge. I plan on revisiting with I hopefully get to experimenting a little this winter after the lower level of my new layout becomes operational. My location in northern FL should present real good weather for this experimentation to take place on my carport work bench just outside the train shed. While all the northern's get snowed in, I will be enjoying our nice cool weather.,...and hopefully learning about DCC/sound installs in my fleet of larger steam engines. Brian

I've had 2 of these short out in a couple of days. They're a few years old a couple of 4-8-4 T1's. I didn't have a whole lot of hours on them. Are these known to have a lot of problems? It kinda seems like it. Thanks

I have almost the exact same style locomotive from Bachmann except its a 2-10-0 HOWEVER...I am having trouble getting the front face boiler off to swap out the light for an LED. If I am not careful could break its delicate build.... QUESTION: Does ESU have a true NON-LED Light Mode for Light 0?

See that screw that holds "PCB02" to the frame? It is the way the right drivers convey the current to the PC board. I've had a few BLI locos where there has been slight corrosion there along with the coating material BLI uses to "blacken" the frame. My suggestion to anyone having a BLI steam loco disassembled this far is to make sure that threaded boss is filed clean and there is no corrosion on the screw and the solder "eye" of the PC board is making good contact here. A tiny dab of No-Ox-Ide might be good, too.

Hi, I don`t quite understand what you where trying to accomplish with this build. I just did a BLI 4-8-4 with Loksuond 5. I used the 32mm speakers in the tender but build 15mm speaker enclosures with .5mm styrene. Used a Seuthe 100 (with cables) for smoke in the boiler, that things smokes up a storm. I kept the full weight in the boiler. The engine is so loud I could call together the neighborhood with it.
