You are correct, sir. Discord is voiced by John de Lancie, Star Trek's Q.

The writers based discord's character directly on Q, and then they even got John de Lancie to voice him.

Eyup, thats Q. I always loved to see how far fans go before geaking out. I was spoiled on his voice when I watched this so its good to get this reaction the right way. The creators waned a villain to be "like Q" and almost got an impersonator to do the roll, but they got the actual actor. He actually had no idea at the time how BIG the fandom would be. Also this really gets to people emotionally.

I love Discord.

Lauren Faust pretty much wrote Discord to be very much like Q, and therefore wanted a Q-like actor to voice him. Someone suggested "why not try to get the 'actual' Q to voice Discord?", so they sent a message to John De Lancie's agent. It was passed on to him, and he accepted. He didn't think much of it back then, and forgot about doing it soon after. Then suddenly he started getting tons of emails and stuff from people telling him how awesome it was that he was in My Little Pony, and he was intrigued. He started doing some research, and found out about bronies. He learned how a lot of people judge bronies for liking MLP, and wanted to do something to fix it, so he started a kickstarter to make a proper documentary about the fandom called "Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony". A fairly long title indeed... Anyways, he got Lauren Faust and Tara Strong (VA of Twilight Sparkle) aboard the production, and even got help from numerous bronies. For example, there's these animated segments in the documentary that introduce aspects of the fandom (such as the art community, music community, etc), and they were animated by someone going by the name JanAnimations. You've surely been asked to react to "Let's go and meet the bronies", which is all these segments put together. :D

12:46 right as you said "Q", it showed the little easter egg they threw in! Don't worry about not noticing it though, hardly anyone does for quite a while unless they're told about it. There's a section of hedge maze in that shot that makes a letter "Q" before it pans to the right.

I'm glad your starting the second season episodes now and I'm looking forward to seeing more. While your commentary for this episode was good you did seem to get overly excited and meanly only kept talking about one character through the whole episode. I'm not saying it was bad you did just as good a job on this commentary like you did your past ones. It's just that I don't think this one was your best but now that you know about Discord and the person the voices him I'm sure your part 2 commentary will be better then your part 1 one. I'm sorry if that sounded rude I'm not trying to be it's hard for me to give a comment that's both positive and a little negative at the same time.
