Rainbow Dash just experienced the five stages of grief... Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance... She was not being a cry-baby she was depressed during that scene...

I agree because nothing hurts more than losing someone you love.

Yeah seemed kinda rude to call her a cry baby for crying over her beloved pet.

This is probably my favorite song from Season 5 so far.

CrazyChippy David agrees with you. Personally though I think I like Make this Castle a Home a bit better.

CrazyChippy Watched a few reacts. Find it kinda weird that nobody seems to make mention that this is the first time in five seasons that RD gets a solo song in-series. Even with Rainbow Rocks, that's still four years.

Its hard trying not to cry during this episode.

Yeah. Especially if you've lost a beloved pet before.

This episode was good but not as good as the first 4. I like how it shows how much Rainbow loves Tank. And also that she doesn't like to be alone at least for long. Also yet again more things to show Fluttershy haters that they're wrong about her having no character development. I love that they showed more of the weather factory, Rainbow's house and the castle. Now we know more about how seasons are created although it seems like the only thing controlled in Equestria besides winter and the weather is cleaning up winter. The song and humor is great. Also I like how they found a way to show a pet's death even with no death that the station would allow. Also 5 for 5 on songs. And Wilhelm scream 17:01.

Supermonaman SuperMonaman Yeah, agreed. This episode was great, but no where near as good as the first 4; those were top-notch. We didn't really get to see a lot of tank since he first appeared in _May the Best Pet Win_. It is nice to see that he's still around and that Rainbow cares about him. It was also a lot of fun to see more of the weather factory and Rainbow's house, and there were some pretty funny moments here too. The only thing that made this episode a bit weak IMO was that the fact that Tank was only going into hibernation, not dying or otherwise leaving for good, which made Rainbow's reaction seem a bit over the top. If Tank's situation had been more serious I probably would have gotten swept up in the emotion of the moment myself, but the seeming triviality of the whole thing instead made Rainbow's reaction almost seem comical to me. I realize they can't really kill off pets in a show like this though, so I guess they did the best they could under those circumstances.

I think this episode was supposed to resemble putting down a pet. Having to say goodbye to a pet, and really not wanting them to go but knowing that it’s what they need. But, of course, it’s hibernation (1, to teach kids about hibernation, and 2, because you can’t mention death in these shows). But yeah, that’s my take on it. :)

This is my first time watching Rainbow Dash cry so sad😭
@thespeedyyoshi9 жыл бұрын
IF you think about it, this is kinda a metaphor for letting go of someone special.... kind of like getting over death. Hence the title Tanks for the memories. Anyway, nice reaction! =)>
@AndrewMeyer9 жыл бұрын
thespeedyyoshi Yeah, a couple other people here in the comments have pointed out the sort of metaphorical death that this episode included. I kind of like that interpretation, as it lends a lot of emotional depth to the episode. They even sort of buried Tank at the end. Man, that scene is actually really, really sad if you think about it that way.

Tortoises DON'T hibernate. They brumate.
@LoquaciousOfHerd9 жыл бұрын
0deadx21 Well, technically _yes,_ brumation is the scientific term for the period of dormancy that cold blooded animals engage in -- hibernation is the period of dormancy that warm blooded animals engage in. However, outside of scientific literature, "hibernation" tends to be used as a blanket term to describe _all_ forms of dormancy. So while not scientifically correct, it is correct usage of the term from a socio-linguistic viewpoint. I can understand the decision not to delve too deeply into the technicalities, particularly given the very simplistic explanation of such biological dormancy periods which the show offers. Thus, for the purposes of casual conversation among average pet-owners (rather than biologists and vets) tortoises _do_ hibernate. Or, do that "nappy-thing." The joy of synonyms!

PonyWatch We don't.....much.

PonyWatch 1:54 "Do turtles hibernate?" For turtles, tortoises and other reptiles, it depends on the climate. In warmer areas, they may not need to hibernate at all, whereas in subarctic conditions some may have to hibernate for as long as eight months out of the year. 3:05 I think the reason that so few episodes take place during Winter is because ponies wouldn't spend as much time outdoors then, so there wouldn't be as many interesting things happening to make episodes out of.
@AndrewMeyer9 жыл бұрын
Narrator007 1:54 Science! My guess is that doesn't usually apply to domesticated turtles though. 3:05 Yeah, I understand the out-of-universe explanation. In-universe though (and continuity-wise) it doesn't make much sense. Oh, and FYI you don't need to post all your comments as replies to our channel. We can definitely see all the comments on the video, regardless of whether or not you're replying directly to us.

Andrew Meyer I know that. The reason I post my comments as replies is because KZfaq has been screwing up and not letting people reply to some of my comments. The problem disappears when I make my comments replies to other comments, however.

Narrator007 Huh, that's weird. Have you tried this? plus.google.com/settings If "who can comment on your public posts" on that page is set to anything other than "Anyone", that would explain the issue. If that's not the problem... then I have no idea.

Hi fellow reactors. Lets check you out. OOh nice room...green bricks, green walls. Haha, the two guys of you, you remind me of the Weasly twins. Are you related? Are you maybe even all siblings? 7:14 LOVE how much fun you guys have. Enjoying the Song ftw! 15:45 "Its like Willy Wonka" LOL, right! 23:03 Crying over nothing? You may not have seen tank for a long time, but she must have seen him every day. And he's gone for many months, thats not nothing. Also this EP was clearly a metaphor for handling death, easy to digest for children. Dashie went through the 5 stages of grief and loss: psychcentral.com/lib/the-5-stages-of-loss-and-grief/000617 Nice reaction anyway. Well, okay didnt get that at first watch either. Check out my reaction if ya want, its on my channel. BerlinBronyANdy

BerlinBronyANdy Yes, we are all siblings. I'm not sure if we ever really explained that on camera, but we did mention it in our channel's description. 7:14 Yeah, that's one of the reasons why we like watching these shows together. It's a lot more fun when there's other people around to share your immediate reaction with. 15:45 Yup, gotta love crazy factories. 23:03 Well, maybe not _nothing_. It didn't really feel like something worth getting that upset over though. If Tank had been dying or leaving for good I could understand, but Rainbow wasn't really "losing" anything; Tank would be back in just a few months. There's no way I'd get even close to that upset if someone close to me was leaving for just a few months. Combine that with the fact that we haven't really seen Rainbow interact much with Tank up until now, and you'll see why I wasn't as sympathetic as I could have been. Sorry, but I'm with Twilight on this one. ;-) You actually make a good point about the death metaphor though. They even "buried" Tank at the end. Thinking about it that way gives the episode quite a bit more emotional depth. If Tank really had been dying I probably would have been far more emotionally invested in the whole thing.
@andyreacts9 жыл бұрын
Andrew Meyer Rainbow was the one living it. Twilight was the one experiencing it from another perspective. So if you say you're with Twilight it just means you won't accept its hard for Rainbow just because your mind tells you "whatever". You don't try to see the world more through Rainbows eyes. Her emotions don't come from nowhere. Feelings are always more powerful than mind. Maybe you wouldnt care if a good friend that is living with you would leave for a few months, maybe you would, who knows. About "We didn't see Rainbow interact with Tank much." You just have to see the episode to get the idea they did interact much in the past off screen. Its just that an ep with RD interacting with Tank would be boring for most viewers. We had her handing over Tank not lightheartedly to Spike in "Just for sidekicks". That interaction is to show whats going on off screen. But whatever, if you don't see it you don't see it. You seem quite young compared to me. I bet in quite a few years we could talk about this episode again and you might understand. Check out this reaction: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l5qHdpWDvrTMnmQ.html

Andrew Meyer So in short, in this one, Twily is the Knowledge. Dashie is the immediate Feeling. See what I'm trying to point at? You cannot explain nor control the taste of honey by describing it. You can only truly know it when you taste it.
@AndrewMeyer9 жыл бұрын
BerlinBronyANdy Sorry, I don't really get it. Maybe I'm just not inclined to read those sort of deeper meanings into stories when a much more immediately visible interpretation exists. It's just my personality.
