So, Muffins was a promising wonderbolt material, but then her eyesight got worse and she was forced to move to Ponyvvile where she had a failed eye surgery.

I agree with RainbowDash, her parents took supporting her way too far- there is a limit. This could have been a great episode too show that it's okay to be a big fan of someone/something but not to let it go so far as to harm the thing you're so affectionate about and not to let your obsession consume you. While it is not okay for Dash to yell at her parents it's also not okay to put all the blame on her when she had a reason to get angry. She had to deal with that behavior for years and the fact that she didn't already explode at them before just shows how much she cares about her parents in that she put up with it for so long.

The problem with this episode is that I completely agree with Rainbow Dash. Her parents are too supportive. That can be damaging to a child growing up, but RD had the luck to back up her arrogance with natural talent. What if the child had been someone else? Someone who has little talent, but has no desire to get better because they're praised for everything they do? RD was also correct when she said that Scootaloo doesn't understand, but Scootaloo instantly judges her and runs away. I know Scoots is just a kid and that she kind of wishes that she had parents like that, but it was still a little disappointing to see her instantly judge RD like that. These are just my opinions, though.

Its amazing how much they got across regarding Scootaloo's character and motivations with only a couple of lines (delivered very well by the voice actress), all while still being vague as to whether she is an orphan or not.

This may not be an "analysis channel", but I personally do consider you a pony analyst. The reason being that during your outros you always give more in-depth review and analysis of the video you just reacted to than plenty of other bronies in the analysis community. If you were to submit your outros as separate videos, this would totally be classified as an analysis channel.

This is my absolute favorite episode of all of mlp. My parents are pretty close to my favorite ponies parents and I love them so much!

True nothin confirmed, but it definitely implied neglect when she said "I never thought id be the best at anything, because no pony ever told met." Of all things, I think what I enjoyed most in this episode. I loved her attitude towards the whole thing, and her helping at the end sealed the deal for me. Spitfire's teasing attitude impressed me the most, as I now realize how easy it would've been for the writers to make her and the rest of the Wonderbolts angry, jealous, or even resentful to an extent. I loved how Spitfire and the rest of the Wonderbolts always kept this joking attitude, and didn't get angry at Rainbow Dash's parents crashing their training session. I especially enjoyed the constant light teasing Spitfire did towards Rainbow Dash, as I've already stated. I really like how the Wonderbolts have grown from the pony version of the Blue Angels that Rainbow Dash adored, to these actually fun and interesting characters I'd like to see more of. I love how they've grown as a team, especially with Rainbow Dash on that team. I especially like how Spitfire has grown; As the captain of the Wonderbolts, and as her own pony. I really liked this episode, and even though it was just a minor aspect of it, one of the highlights for me was the Wonderbolts. ~Ariana Isabella

Derpy's story was so sad this episode. I also didn't catch her in the hospital last season so I had to go back and watch that. Adults know about and are ok with scootalo's living situation, so if there's any kind of neglect or abuse it's probably in the past (scootalo also implies past tense "growing up")

I thin I remember reading somewhere someone's headcanon that Rainbow Dash's Parents were the real "Tough Love" type, y'know the type of parents where nothing you do is ever good enough so you keep pushing yourself in the hopes of gaining their approval. It would explain why she moved out as soon as she could (since people with these types of parents usually end up hating them on some level), why she never writes them or anything, and why she's such an awesome flier, but it might also leave her with an inferiority complex feeling like she's never good enough. I like the parents we got instead more.

I'll bet RD's memories of her as a filly in those junior races with familiar competitors (Lightning Dust, Soarin, Spitfire, etc) we know today serve as stand-ins because she can't remember every single face or name of whomever she competed against those years ago. Thus, there's no way she could've met them all as young fillies.

To be fair, having parents that overenthusiastic would be mortifying. Loved the episode, but I was expecting an entirely different 3rd act when Dash finally got fed up and tore into them. Mainly because I kinda felt like Dash did in that moment. What we got was utterly amazing, but I expected the lesson would something about moderation or whatever. Still, what we got was better.

As great of a story as AJ's parents have, I think RD's parents still takes the title of the best. I love how supportive they are...

Personally I hope they touch on the issue of either neglectful parents or being an orphan in this show. It would be brave of them as no kids show I've seen has done so outright. I would love to see how they handle it. If done right, it could connect with a lot of kids... Especially since I knew some with that issue...

Rainbow's parents + Fangirling Scootaloo + callbacks + the feels= an awesome episode!

My theory is that because Scoot has what appears to be a flying disability, her parents were disappointed in her for not being what they wanted from a young pegasus. As we've seen, ponies in Cloudsdale aren't always the nicest. Anyway, they neglected her, and eventually Scootaloo ran away to live in Ponyville by herself.

This is an odd one for me because I love this episode to pieces however there were a couple of moments that I didn't care for in particular: First of all Scootaloo, she seemed completely blind to Rainbow's embarrasment of her parents, and when Rainbow told her how she was feeling she made her feel bad that she had made Rainbow's parents cry, which admittedly Rainbow shouldn't have done that; she should have talked to them calmly about her feelings, but in that situation where the preasure kept building up she finally lost it and said some things that she shouldn't have, which everyone has done at some point. 　 Also Rainbow's parents; while I did laugh at their antics thinking about it they really messed up The Wonderbolt's routine by throwing fireworks and disrupting everything that they did, I get that they were excited but there's such a thing as too much support, which we saw with Vapor Trail's backstory in Top Bolt. 　 The fact that the episode made it Rainbow's fault with how she acted was definitely wrong, don't get me wrong I love the episode so much, but the end lesson was definitely wrong; at least in my opinion. 　 However upon saying that I love this episode, Scootaloo's delight at seeing Rainbow's parents, the music playing whenever the door opened made me laugh like crazy and other moments like that were great, plus we actually saw the Wonderbolts being nice to Rainbow, they seemed like they wanted to say something or make fun of her but instead they just gave her a look and a smile, which I appreciated seeing. Also Rainbow did say that she was the youngest in the flying group at that time, so I'm guessing that she and Lightning Dust didn't hang out when they were younger. So yeah, overall an odd episode for me personally because I did love the episode, just a couple of moments that I mentioned I didn't particularly care for. But even so the episode is definitely up there as one of my favorite Rainbow centered episodes. Great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.
