Once when I was a child I was playing a game with a friend on a trampoline where one of us would shut our eyes and try to find the other person. I turned towards the sun and despite my eyes being shut I could sort of tell where he was from a 'shadow'. I know I have proper vision so it may not be the same, but I found that comment really interesting.

3:45 He may have actually seen his hand, the eclipse has a funny effect on shadows they become very very sharp so if he has light sensitivity he may have been able to differentiate the outline of his hand against the sun. I can imagine the sudden sharpness would have been nauseating since an increase in resolution would tell your brain either you just ingested poison or that you are swaying more than usual.

@@Sean_0109 No, staring at the sun like that is awful for your eyes, actually, it would permanently damage them after long exposure, so best not to do that. Even if they are blind, it's best they don't go staring directly into UV lighting lol

Crumb Reth well, i am colourblind but I only have deutranopia, even though apparently it is extreme. I can see colour, however they will be different to what you see, anything with red, green or grey seem to be effected and lot’s of greens look grey and brown, same with reds, also, for some reason, grey seems to be more accented, i know that this it not exactly what you asked and it had more to do with the video and monochromacy, when you only see black, white and grey, but i hope this helped a little

I just can't stop thinking that if you were born blind how do you explain the concept of seeing? I mean you are trying to describe a completely different sense. I mean I can see how over time with association and feeling different shapes you could pick up the concept but if I was born blind, as a child I would find the idea really confusing and overwhelming

If they are completely blind they would usually not be able to understand the concept of seeing accurately. There have been people that have regained sight after never having seen, but they are usually unable to fully understand the experience even then, and some have even had mental breakdowns or said they would rather go back to being bling because it can be so overwhelming to suddenly have so much new stimuli occurring at the same time. Sight is very wide-reaching.

Without my glasses I can see color and blurred shapes unless the object is inches from my face. It's hard to imagine trying to get things done just without my glasses - I can't imagine what it's like to see nothing at all. I think my biggest fear would be other people. I hope you are all treated kindly and with respect. It made me sad when I heard that sometimes people just walk by or try and be quiet like they don't exist. So rude~!

I have heard of and experienced healing while reading the Bible out loud so definitely do that every day. Look up healing scriptures or maybe all the Bible is healing I don't know. There are times me or my family didn't get healing until I tithed you can try that too ,just never stop tithing. Play Christian 'healing prayer' utube videos as much as you need to, I get healed when I play them. Benny Hinn has good ones. There are many good Christian utube channels that have them. 🤗🙏

I appreciate blue shirt girl’s honesty. In the video about beauty she talks about being superficial and here she says she’d want to see not necessarily for some poetic reason (like seeing one’s future kids) but because being blind is a pain in the ass and seeing would make day to day life easier. Damn it’s so cool to be reminded how different our perspectives are. Like at 4:35 she talks about how fascinated she is of the thought of those who can see being able to focus on a single line of text when reading, and then other people (like me) are extremely fascinated that they can read Braille and just use their fingers for little tiny dots. Like I never thought that someone would be fascinated by something like that but at the same time it makes perfect sense.

So strange that person with vision can go crazy if they lose their sight, but if you are born blind seems you can go about happy and not even miss it. People who are well adjusted, after losing their sight at some point of their lives deserve all our respect. Really brave people.

At 3:35 he said that he thought he saw his hand... That could be a possibility. Even if your eyes aren't transmitting to your brain completely to see things, your eyes can defiantly still take in everything that you'd normally see and give that information to your brain. They had a study of a guy that "Couldn't see" but when cards with pictures and colors were shown to him and he had to guess what it was, I think he drew them or somthing, he was right every time.

Honestly, I’m pretty scared that I’ll end up going blind, and I think that’s why most people ask this question. I’m scared because I think the world is a beautiful looking place, nature is absolutely gorgeous, and I’d hate to have that taken away from me.

I was walking on campus, and a blind person was asking out loud if somebody could help. So I stopped, and he asked where the train station was. I said it was right in front of him, and offered to lead him there, then he says "I didn't ask for that." His response took me by surprise because he said it in a rude tone. Maybe blind people don't want the feeling of having to rely on others. Regardless, it made me feel bad for the rest of the day.

This is really fascinating. I am glad I found this channel, not only because it gives insight on blind people but I am also planning on writing a book with a first person point of view of a blind person so this is nice to have more personal information and stuff akin to that instead of just reading stuff about blindness. Omg the guy talking about his kids freaking broke my heart so much like so much crap people take for granted everyday it's ridiculous but honestly sometimes I think having a disability humbles you in ways people don't understand. And gives you patience with like and a different perspective and a life you wouldn't really want to change because that's your identity that's you I get it

Such an eye opening (sorry) video. It's actually really interesting to hear this perspective. I've worked a bit with foreign language education, and one thing that almost shattered my mind, was when I found out that dyslexia doesn't exist in Chinese. Like literally doesn't exist. Because the Chinese writing system is not based on an alphabet, but on characters, the cognitive processes for reading are different. So what I experienced were talented Chinese students, who had never had trouble reading, starting to learn English and suddenly becoming "disabled". I imagine it's a similar feeling for blind people - blindness is only a disability if the world makes it so.

I just meet a blind person and he told me that he wouldn’t have it any other way him being blind because he gets to know people from the inside and that made me so emotional 😭 he had a bubbly personality very nice person ❤️

Fascinating. My mind has always been completely blown when thinking about people who were born blind. How do they even comprehend what it is to "see?" The people in this video keep saying the word "see," but what do they actually think "seeing" is? Or what is vision/sight in their minds? Absolutely fascinating and heartbreaking at the same time.

That’s not a very good comparison. Being blind isn’t a bad thing. I can tell you this because I am blind, well, legally blind. I can see some and I’m grateful for what I can see. I sometimes wish I could see in certain situations, but I’ve excepted it and I’m fine with it. I don’t think it should be looked at this way as a bad thing; I just think every case is different and every person that it affects is different. I just thought I would give you my perspective and my thoughts on this.

@@JAF1323 Firstly, when did I say being blind was a bad thing? The comparison I had made 2 years ago was to directly to have a dig at the video producer. I purely posted this comment to express how stupid of an idea this video was. I see it as a way of teasing with the interviewee. So what if they wish they could see? - Now I not sure how far science has progressed in this subject - as far as I'm aware, if you're blind, you're blind, and therefore, you won't be able to see. See what I am trying to get at? Secondly, with some of the other things you have said I won't argue with, if you're happier blind, then being to be able see, then good on you. Why do I feel like people think I'm shaming blind people, when I'm clearly not?
