Thunderlane was with the other recruits in season 3, we knew he was fast in season 2, and earlier in season 7 he can be seen with the other wonderbolts. Thunderlane legit had a character arc in the backround... wow.

Blank Flank really isn't an insulting term. Its simply that Diamond Tiara made it one. But at its core it really isn't since every pony starts off as one. its just a thing. its only insulting if you let it be so.

I feel like Pinkie Pie would have made a great example in this episode. Her cutie mark shows that her special talent is throwing parties but she also enjoys doing other things like pranking, baking, making other ponies laugh, etc.

I really loved this episode. Rumble reminded me a lot of Max from Camp Camp by Rooster Teeth. And Rumble made good points about Cutie Marks as well, he's like Starlight (before she was redeemed) but not quite which is definitely interesting to see. And Thunder Lane was definitely interesting as well, I never thought that Rumble or Thunder Lane would have a main part in the series, but it's great to see. Great reaction and can't wait for more! Blank Flank isn't a insult it's title. Meaning depending on how you use it will determine if it's a insult or not. Diamond tiara used it as a insult since they were trying to be mean. There is also the episode where Rarity gets the Canterlot Carousel, where she ends up forced to make the same dress. Being stuck in doing the same thing with the same talent you have can end up losing the passion, time and love put into it. At least trying new things that benefit your liking can be a refreshing start.

I kind of tend to think "Blank flank" can be derogatory or just a term used for a pony without a cutie mark but ones like Diamond Tiara has made us all come to see that as a derogatory word. Kind of like how certain words in real life used to be innocent. At first I kind of thought Thunderlane was trying to prevent his little brother from becoming a great flyer like him, like he feared being not the center of the spotlight anymore and replaced by his little brother or something but now I realize he was just wanting to help him out. I also loved Rumble's song it was really cute and he has such an adorable singing voice. I'm also glad he did not get his cutie mark in this episode, that is such an over done trope that someone who does not want something, they slowly calm down about it and then BOOM! It happens after all and they are happy.

I loved this episode. It got a bit on the deeper side of how the Cutie Marks seem to function and such. Well, maybe not too much into that, but, it's certainly an intriguing episode, nonetheless. The lesson is very intelligent.

A great episode that reflects us all. For example, drawings isn't all that I'm good at. I also love to write and read and really hoped that I'll be able to publish a book series one day. I also love to do scrapbooks, studying films and childrens' television shows such as MLP: FiM and anime! I also love to collect things and doing a few sports. My life is so full of variety that even I can't find time to do them all, just like Apple Bloom!

I really like this episode since last year I thought about dropping out of college course and changing cause I wanted a different path but felt locked in by parental pressure. Finished the course now dont regret staying on should be fun future.

13:16 normally i could fore-go the songs in this show, but this song is one of the few that i like. it just has this catchy tune, and who ever voices Rumble, has a good singing voice.

Finding one's talents and interests are a big part of growing up.

Where I'd thought the episode was going was that the big brother focused on only his flying after getting his Cutie Mark and the younger brother resented that they weren't spending time together anymore. I'm iffy on how the show actually went, but I do love that song. :)

This one was a great episode, it gave us a big look into how Cutie Marks work and that you're not bound to do that specific thing for all your life, but that you can do other things as well. Not much to put in this then what Applegeek said. I also like to call that Starswirl will be in the next episode. (FWI, I haven't seen it yet, But with how the episodes of the legend of magic characters are lined up, this is a call.)

I remember back in elementary school, I was in a class that helped kids who were struggling. I was asked if I had one wish what would it be. My answer was, I would wish for more willpower, both teachers laughed at me.

Actually, Thunderlane was in Wonderbolt Academy with Dash, and we saw him wearing the Wonderbolt uniform before in the background. I think it was in this season, but I'm not sure which episode it was. Makes you wonder who quit in order for a new spot to open up... And also, where was Dash during this episode? You'd think she'd show up (at least somewhere in the background) in an episode that features so many Wonderbolts.

It's important to recall that blank flank was first used by Cheerilee and it was nothing more than a descriptor. It was Diamond Tiara that used it as an insult to bully others, specially towards the CMC. Without DT pushing the derogatory use of the term, the other ponies are probably more comfortable using it as it was meant to.

This is the episode I was expecting last week. I did see a preview of the song and had mixed feelings about it. So I was interested to see where they'd take the story. The only downside is that it seems like this will be the last Crusader episode for this season. Maybe next year we'll get that Crusaders/Cutie Map story.

When I was little all I wanted to do was perform by singing, dancing, or acting. As I got older I was told that was just unrealistic fantasy and I should be more realistic. I went down different paths trying things I might like and such and switched majors in college a few times. Now I'm a social worker helping others less fortunate than myself and have a passion for it. I'm still unsure what exact type of field of social work I wanna do long term so I'm still figuring that part out too. I still like to perform for fun once in while though. However, I do see how young kids are pushed into things they don't want. Or even worse is when you tell a child they can be whatever they want to be when they grow up and to never give it. All great motivation and support, but when that kid becomes a teenager in upper high school they are now being told they should do what they can and be realistic about it because of surviving in real world with financial stability and etc. . . . So then they are trying to figure out what they supposed to do because they don't believe their dreams are possible anymore. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen. I believe it worked out for me, but some others aren't as lucky or given all the right type of opportunities. So I can relate a bit and the lesson is a bit of a mixed lesson in this particular issue when associated with real life situations. Still this is one reason I have come to love this show so much because the lessons are pretty true and can be applied in real life situations. For kids it can help provide a journey of self growth and for those of us lot older it reminds us of what is important and not to take life for granted and the lessons it can teach even if they are similar lessons like in Fluttershy's case. Good episode over all and good messages.

This episode was just okay for when when I first watched it but after hearing your thoughts on it, I've gained a better appreciation for it. That circle connection was so intriguing, I'm so glad you explained it in your commentary. I really don't know why they kept saying blank flanks so often in the episode. For a phrase that was so insulting and belittling in the show for so long, that they've adapted it to describe themselves...I don't know how to feel about that. It's like using offensive terms within your own group of familiar friends because of relative status but the words themselves are still born and rooted in offensiveness & derogatoriness, if that makes any sense. So, it was uncomfortable to see CMC's so freely using the phrase blank flanks as well as the other ponies, especially since they aren't blank flanks anymore...I don't know... Pipsqueak's voice does sound older, it could be his voice actor has matured. And in reference to your concern in the beginning of the video, I know there was no ill intention for Fluttershy regarding the tree thing in last week's episode. It was perfectly harmless and you don't have anything to be concerned about. There was a lot more I wanted to say on this episode but I can't think of it at the moment. A lot of people were getting upset and confused as to why they used the term "blank flanks" but in an earlier episode didn't the CMC figure out that it isn't bad being to be a blank flank. So in my opinion being a blank flank is a good thing because you're still finding yourself and there is so many things you could be.

...sometimes I wish people in real life would be able to have something like cutie marks to help them figure out whether they are making the right choice when picking a major in college or getting into a career path. Sometimes you think you like something so much that you'd be able to enjoy doing it for however many years as a job until you retire. But then, a few years pass and you get bored and burnt out. Then, you want to change to a completely different line of work and sort of have this mid-life crisis and figure out how to sort of reinvent yourself and how to start back up from scratch especially if you already have much bigger financial responsibilities. Of course, I don't like to define people solely by what they do for a living, and I think sometimes people do that. There is more (hopefully) to a person than just their job. But I feel like commonly your job is the equivalent to a cutie mark of sorts. ..if only real life was as magical as MLP..

Sweetie Belle darling, I think you're missing the easy solution: your sister Rarity. All this could have been easily solved if Sweetie Belle just told Rumble about Rarity's cutie mark. Rarity's Special talent is finding gems but her passion and job is her fashion business. Your special talent doesn't have to get in the way of what you're passionate about. It was a great episode regardless. I love the song, Rumble and the rest of the little Ponies were adorable. All In All A good episode.

3:03 I just wanna be clear here I’m pretty sure when the term blank blank is used it can either be in good or in bad context, like when Silver spoon and diamond tiara used to call the Crusaders Blank flanks it was me and they were saying it to try and hurt them but you hear Apple Bloom, referring to herself as a blank blank. Yeah, that could be in a bad way, but you’ve even heard other people refer to it as blank flank. I think in this situation they’re saying it in a good way that’s just the term used for a pony who doesn’t have their cutey mark yet but in the sense of diamond tiara and silver spoon, they were using it as an insult because they knew the three of them were insecure about not having there cutey marks:) I guess it’s kind of like people who call their friends idiots I know sometimes I’ve said to my friend after they bump into some thing or drop some thing or do something kind of silly. I’ll see them all you’re such an idiot, and will laugh it off my friends, know that it’s a joke and not me actually calling them an idiot.(sorry for any spelling mistakes I’m dyslexic and have a hard time typing full paragraphs so I use the Speech to text function on my phone)
