If anyone wants to know why at the beginning he was stating his own name and stating his employment, it is because he was wanted to clarify ifhe was awake or asleep, due to getting blind recently. 'Livin la vida loca' for him was a double clarification (100%) that yes you are awake and you're blind. Good character.

the continuity guy was apparently also having a bad day, depp has nothing in his right hand and is tracing the wall at 1:20 then at 1:23 it's in his hand then at 1:31 he gets the gun out that was in his hand
