To Blind Wave or anyone curious about the whole adaptation scenario, this is what I've learned over my years of keeping up with the author's blog updates. If any of this is wrong please feel free to correct me! When the first book was being adapted into a movie, the author of the books, Rick Riordan, didn't have any input into its creation. As a courtesy the directors sent him the script when it was finished, and Rick read it and sent it back to them pointing out all the things he liked and his suggestions of what they might be able to do to improve it or make it more accurate to the books, and they changed nothing nor did they talk with him about it any further. They went ahead and made what they had planned, aging all the characters up by about 4 or 5 years from the source material to try and appeal to a teenage/YA audience. First movie saw decent success and second one wasn't as well received, and it was taking them so long to make them that the actors were quickly outgrowing the roles. Too many things were dropped from the movies or switched around and overall it wasn't a very faithful adaptations at all, so the series got scrapped. After years of hearing from his fans how much they wanted a good adaptation, the author eventually brought the idea up to Disney and they decided to take the shot and reboot it as a series instead. Rick himself wrote the entire script for episode one and with the help of others wrote out the script for the rest of the first season, and Disney officially approved it. Unlike the movies, Rick himself is fully involved in the writing of the show and is determined to make up for the subpar movies, keeping this new show faithful to the books while also adding in lots of Easter eggs and nods to future events in that series and even things in series after it that are set in the same universe. A lot of things shown in this trailer were straight up not in the movies at all but were fan favorite moments of the books. Some fans weren't happy about certain castings for the characters, but Rick has stated multiple times that he personally chose every actor out of the many who applied for each character and feels that these actors were the perfect ones to embody the characters regardless of whether their appearance matches the book descriptions or not. They've already started writing the script out for season 2 (covering book 2) though that season hasn't been green lit yet pending the success of the first season. Overall, as someone who has read every book in the universe multiple times since discovering it 15 years ago, I can personally say this looks like everything us fans have been waiting for this entire time and then some and I can't wait to watch these dam characters grow up. ❤❤❤

This show is just gonna be a nice reminder that we are all kids at heart and I'm so here for it lol I was in 5th grade when I started the series 13 years ago. I had randomly stumbled upon it when I picked up the 5th book in the series and thought it was pretty awesome and got swept away by the world Rick Riordan had made. I've long since lost track of how many times I've reread all the books.

This series is my Harry Potter. I grew up reading the books and now it is FINALLY getting the adaptation it rightfully deserves!!!!!!! The Percy Jackson series was such good Neurodivergent representation growing up as someone with autism. The way demigods use their dyslexia and ADHD as strengths was such an important part of my childhood, making me view my quirks as positives. You guys need need NEED to react to this especially because of how faithful Roirdan is making it to the books and how much creative control he has over making his characters come to life.

I can't overstate how psyched I am for this. I grew up reading the original book series, I still read the sequel and spin-off book series now. This helped start a love of the Ancient Greek mythologies and hopefully it's about to get the adaptation it so, so deserves! There were a couple of things the movies did right but they got almost everything else wrong, and with the book's author Rick Riordan and his wife Becky being so heavily involved in the production of this one, I'm cautiously optimistic! Edit: I love Janci's enthusiasm for this too! I appreciate the use of the blue!

This looks SO MUCH MORE like the books than the movies did. It includes SO many things that the movies left out. This is what happens when the author is involved in the process (ala Good Omens and The Sandman.)
