Devolver are the court jesters of the video game industry. These conferences exist to primarily make fun of the games industry and point out its problems, and then maybe show off some video games. It's just a bonus that they publish actually good games.

What's funny to me is that this type of thing would be so fucking cringy (and it still is to some people) if it weren't for the fact that the industry is actually so much more ridiculous than what Devolver parody.

Was I the only one who recognised the Dina from TLOU2 in this video? Like, not the actress who played Dina, but the likeness. Her body was scanned for the character.

@@narutohokage20 still just indie games that 99% of players would never know who published/developed. Also one of those is like a decade old and the other is brand new. Neither would have made their past E3s must watches.

I don't normally go out of my way to make recs for you guys in the comments, but you really should check out the rest of Devolver's conferences from 2017 forward. If you enjoyed this one you'd definitely like the rest.

I agree with those who say you really should watch the previous Devolver "conferences", here encapsulated in the initial tape. Starting with 2017, it was a WILD ride. They are also pretty short, ranging from 15 to 25 minutes. Just ignore the games (although most of them are quite good, they just are already out for the most part :P) and focus with how Devolver mocks the industry habits.

Demon throttle, the only game designed to be a retro throwback that actually looks like a retro throwback and not just something with pixel art that claims it's a retro throwback

What are you on about? There's loads of pixel art games with looks that adhere to the 'retro' standards. Some even moreso than Demon Throttle here which looks very NES like but is chucking about a lot more sprites than the NES can usually manage. :P Some modern 'retro games' have even been released for the system they were paying tribute to as well. Xeno Crisis, for example, is available on various modern formats but also for the Mega Drive/Genesis it was designed in the style of.
