I love Kate scurrying away with the suitcase like a gremlin

RIck saying "we don't have to go back" gave me serious chills. He is going to figure this show out easily

I unironically love Shannon. So many of the main characters are on like Chapter 5 of the epic story of their life, and she’s been through it but in a way that feels more relatable. She’s flawed in a way that isn’t ‘sexy’ or ‘fascinating’ - she’s insecure and selfish and petty. You’re pretty much supposed to dislike her but I can’t help but feel compassion.(And it’s not bc they like to have her in a bikini, the character I like bc of thirst is Jack)

Eric and Rick together are a superb duo for a reaction, especially with Eric, having seen the show before, guiding Rick, a newcomer, through it all. Two intellectuals going at a show from two completely different angles. I love it!

Halliburton is a real brand of cases that have been used in many, many Hollywood productions.

I loved Kate growing up. Seeing her take no crap, climbing trees, braving the jungle, facing up to people (and men) like sawyer, being badass and strong. That's all I saw growing up. I never really paid attention to the love triangle in relation to her character and personality.

You're stranded on a semi deserted island. You need anything you can find. I'd bring that whole seat up from the bottom. Bring it to the beach and let it dry in the sun for a day and you have a couch. I'd be looting everything. Not to hoard it for myself but they need to be gathering resources.

I don't think Maggie Grace's voice gets appreciated enough. She really does have a lovely singing voice.

This is far from the best episode for sure. Rick is still a master of predicting stuff though. The bodies in the water, Kate being the brains of the robbery, her slipping the key behind Jack’s back.

This reaction is one of my favorite shows to watch. Eric and Rick are a perfect duo. So entertaining.

It's a common locked case in movies but I never knew the name until that scene with Hurley. I usually associate that case with illegal or super secret stuff just because of movies and how there's always a scene of that kind of case holding sketchy things and handcuffed to someone's wrist. Lol I'd side eye anyone I see with one in real life

Halliburton is a real brand. I had no idea that it was a real thing until this show. Looks like the type of case that has the guns is going for $500 on Amazon.

That small waterfall location is inside the Botanical Garden. It’s movie magic, It’s much smaller than it appears, it’s a shallow pond. Where they go in is some large flattened rocks to use for entrance and exit, but the camera man is standing on a widened sidewalk trail at the last stop before tuning around and heading back to the gift shop. To the right, off camera angle is a covered seating area where we ate ice cream from a vendor. We saw incredible plants, flowers, fruits, landscape and a few animals walking around, like peacocks, but the waterfall is beautiful and the water was the ambient temperature of bath water. Cool place to visit with the kids. To get a better visual for the waterfall, use the googs to check out Waimea Valley botanical garden or Waimea Valley Falls. Enjoy!

The song Shannon sang in French was Beyond the Sea. It was played during the movie Finding Nemo which lead my brain to Jacque Cousteau ,who voiced a shrimp in the movie, and to 20,000 leagues under the sea (Jules Verne was French) with a sea monster (hydra-ish) which reminded me of the Extraordinary Gentlemen’s Captain Nemo and his mysterious submarine underwater adventures (science fiction adventures). Beyond the sea, Here be monsters and uncertainty, which is why she wrote them beyond the coast of the island map.

It's so refreshing to see 2 men discuss Kate, and the other women on the show, and not hate on them but actually take time to understand their characters and their motivations etc. The writers are so good at character development and they did a great job with Kate's character, imo, based on her past/history. I actually like her character and she had a good arc overall. I did hate the love triangle that the writers wanted, and that did drag Kate's character down, but that was in no way the actors fault or the characters'.

He was 17th in that tournament not 16th!

Yeah, the song is obviously not taken from finding nemo. Maybe it's in that movie but the song, which by the way goes "somewhere beyond the sea" and not "across the sea, is Beyond the sea, apparently from 1945, like they said below.

I disagree that Jack was being a Jerk. Kate came to him for help, and he had a very reasonable request. If i help you, we open it together. She literally lied to him & was only using him to get to the buried marshal & snake the key. Once she was busted i feel Jack had every right to be pissed off. She told him that she was telling the truth about everything in the suit case which was another lie so again I feel Jack had a right to ask what the plane was to her. The only thing so far Jack's done in regards to Kate that i disagree with is tell her her Past doesn't matter on the Island only to then ask what her past was in the next episode or 2. That's a hypocritical thing to do cause he only cared about the past then cause she wouldn't go to the caves like he wanted. But it's not character breaking or anything cause people irl are hypocrites a lot of the time. And besides, Jack told her that 1 time her past doesn't matter. He's been showing clearly since then that he does care about her past. People can change their minds, maybe at the time he didn't care but he's CLEARLY caring now & has been for multiple episodes & presumably days now. I don't think him saying the past doesn't matter 1 time means he can NEVER change his mind & ask about the past in the future. Jack may go on to do things i don't like or agree with but atm he's done almost everything right for me. Locke/Jack/Sawyer/Sayid are the most intriguing characters on the show so far for me.

Halliburton is a real company that makes briefcases/backpacks/luggage/etc but outside of that, I know absolutely nothing about them.

What did Eric say about Jack while Kate was crying? "What a good NOW/OUT Jack has?"

I love Rose, and her scene with Charlie at the end is beautiful, but I think the only time I haven't liked her was when she was giving him the "tough love" earlier in the episode. He was literally hung from a tree and died, after being kidnapped, and being unable to protect someone he cared about, let him sit there in silence if he wants. Also, Kate is beyond irritating in this episode.

Kate annoys the crap out of me in this episode. "You can keep it", then she comes to Sawyer to steal a suitcase, literally twice. Like, make up your damn mind. Or just tell him what's in there. Later Jack says "we're gonna do this together(open the suitcase), are you sure that only guns there?". She's like "yep, i'm not lying", but fucking no. Ugh

Why is everybody hating on Kate? Sure, the whole love triangle thing is obnoxious writing and doesn't make much sense, but she was still a fantastic character, as were the rest!

I don’t know what I think about her character. I went from liking her very much to being very unsure about her. She reeks of dishonesty and manipulation, but we’ve seen her acting altruistic. So idk. The sleight of hand was really vexing to see happen. But I’ll continue to watch and see what she does

I never even realized there was any hate for Kate. Watched Lost by myself back in 2014 and again this year, but sadly everyone I know has been deprived of this fantastic show, so there's never been anyone to discuss it with. It aired back when I was in school and I remember hearing people talk about Lost, but nothing stuck cuz I didn't watch it at the time. Only reading the comments have I now found out about the viewer's reaction and stances on certain aspects of the show. And boy do some comments ever go hard on Kate. If someone is written cookie cutter people complain (with good reason), but then if they have flaws and struggles then they're annoying or unlikable? Charlie, Sawyer, Kate and [spoiler]: coughDesmondcough have always been no brainers for me, especially my second time around (Sayid is almost there). The first time was like 6 years ago and I really liked Jack and Locke, but for some reason when I watched it again a few weeks/months ago they weren't my favorites. I won't go into that now but it just seems funny to see people who are obviously identifying with Jack get defensive and say Kate is the one in the wrong. Which is funny, because Jack likes her, meaning that being so adamantly against her is actually the opposite of seeing from his point of view. To him, when she isn't os his side it bothers him because he wants-- oh... wait a sec. I think I get it now. Lol. At least, I get it for those who are attracted to women. For anyone who isn't atrracted to women but doesn't like Kate, I can only assume it stems from insecurity. Welp, I think I'm done my rant now. Actually, let me add one more thing. I'm not implying that you can't have valid criticisms for someone who is good looking, whether you're attracted to them or not. It's just that scrolling through comments has brought up so many strange arguments against Kate that not writing something just seemed wrong.

honestly this episode gave me a small dislike for kate edit - if kate wants to ask for jacks help digging up a body, and then tries to sneak the key away, Jack deserves the truth.

I know Kate can be annoying, but she's far from the worst person on this show. Ppl literally love other evil characters just because they are funny and entertaining, but they talk about Kate as if she is worse person than them. Kate as Rick said is not malicious, she sometimes does not think things through, makes mistakes, she’s flawed, doesn't know what she wants...annoying, but she helped so much through the show, at least she's useful, was kind and considerate a lot when it was needed

SPOILERS: I honestly could not care less about Kate. The writing for her so 2000s. I'm sick of suffering through love triangles that don't make any sense. She's constantly stringing Jack & Sawyer along, pitting them against each other, then the men use Kate against the other. I don't like Jack either, so him & Kate are perfect for each other. I only started liking Sawyer in Season 3 & when Jules comes in, their relationship is beautiful & heart breaking. I don't understand people who ship James & Kate.

Finding Nemo was released 9 years after Lost. Beyond The Sea written in 1945.

Man this is not a fun series to watch from them. Eric has already seen it and Rick is somehow correctly guessing EVERY single little thing no matter what. Hasn't failed once. BlindWave is the only channel, ONLY channel, that most people are correctly guessing everything in every movie and every show they watch. LAME.
