Dude Ricks way of thinking is incredible -Two Factions Theologies - A religion around the monster -Boone being a tipping point of a scale in a war on the island - Hatch/Israel I’m curious how the show would have turned out had the writers played more on these lines of story telling!!! I LOVE his TheoryCrafting.
@shortstuff780
@shortstuff780 3 жыл бұрын
I mean. (Spoiler) It's very similar to what happened, yes the monster has some religious motif. There is 2 fraction of theologies. That's is a certain someone who is tipping point of the war of the island. Etc.. His thought process is correct, but his (who) is incorrect

Eric should have a bit at the end of every episode where it's just him talking to the audience who's seen the whole show already and he talks about Rick's thoughts and discussions. I would like to see what he thinks about Rick's takes and how close he's getting to the answers.

What answers? It seems most missed the show entirely and we’re caught up in their own ideas. As in, everything they saw (as with their entire existence outside the show) is filtered through their ideas. Very few have experienced reality for what it is. There are no answers - only the recognition that one doesn’t know. But most already have beliefs - they never let themselves “not know”. They never sit with it. It all began the day you were born and were given a name. You’re never questioned your own existence -what you are - because you already arrived at an idea (your name) and believed you were a person. We are here for such a short time but people are content with accumulating “stuff”. See, every animal exists. Yet, we have the ability to perceive/observe our own existence. Were ideas not placed in your head (by parents, friends, teachers, etc.) you would naturally spend your entire life in search for the nature of your existence.

24:30 from an autistic person's perspective, The Good Doctor is a damn good medical drama, but I have really complicated feelings about it's portrayal of autism. I've been watching the show since it started and everything feels like it's a decade out of date from present day autism discussion. They're on the 4th season and they haven't said the word neurodiversity. They've never had a discussion about functioning labels, IFL vs PFL, cure philosophy, etc. They'll make a big deal out of an anti-vaxxer as if that was some tensely divided issue. Also having a partnership with Autism Speaks doesn't exactly give me faith that this is an honest mistake. I see interviews with Freddie Highmore and he honestly seems more autistic in those than he does in the actual show. It doesn't help that his previous role was as Norman Bates in Bates Motel. Like most neurotypical portrayals of the autistic experience, it feels like a caricature. That being said I am a fan of Daniel Dae Kim and I think The Good Doctor is a fantastic medical drama with genuinely great character interactions, but every time the main character is on screen, the namesake of the show, it's some of the most cringeworthy television I've seen in a while.

From a medical student's perspective , the medical stuff is also very stupid and obscenely overdramatised
@Epop_
@Epop_ 3 жыл бұрын
@The internet is globalist propaganda The term neurodiversity was literally coined by a sociologist. This isn't some nefarious term devised by "social justice warriors". It's a real scientific term to describe the range of differences in individual brain function and behavioral traits, regarded as part of normal variation in the human population. The prominent usage of the term among the Autistic rights movement has no bearing on it's scientific validity, and I would argue is even more reason, that a show explicitly sold on the premise of an Autistic surgeon should delve into that topic with some level of depth, regardless of their political opinion on the matter. To stay out of that larger discussion is contradictory to it's goal of highlighting the Autistic experience, and is inherently toothless. It's almost like a corporate lobbyist group, in this case Autism Speaks, is using a popular medical drama on ABC to promote a message contrary to the beliefs of a minority group. Oh wait, that's ACTUAL astroturfing. The practice of masking the sponsors of a message or organization to make it appear as though it originates from and is supported by grassroots participants. Maybe don't throw around buzzwords until you understand the context.
@Epop_
@Epop_ 3 жыл бұрын
@The internet is globalist propaganda "I have a cousin with autism" says the man explaining autism to the Autistic person. Gotta love how you use the word "they" in an attempt to otherize Autistic advocates, when one is right in front of you. If you're unaware, science IS inherently political. We have ethics committees at universities for exactly this purpose. If a scientist were to give a test subject something potentially harmful without proper informed consent, that would morally reprehensible and could cause serious long lasting damage, despite the motivation of further knowledge. Autistic people like myself, as voting members of society, are inherently political. To suggest that science is apolitical, is to suggest that Oppenheimer wasn't partially responsible for the atomic bomb. He recognized that responsibility after the fact, but many studying autism do not. Actively advocating for cures, prenatal tests, therapies, and other controversial or otherwise ethically dubious studies that conjure up skepticism among the Autistic population. But you probably don't care about the moral ambiguity of any of this, do you? You proudly flaunt a Nazi Officer in your profile picture, so why am I surprised. You believe in the medical model. I believe in the social model. The difference is I don't have to hide my face behind a screen. My profile picture? That's me. I'm not a coward who's so insecure in his identity that he needs to cling to a nationalistic sense of pride. Although considering you speak English and not German, I'm guessing you aren't even from Germany. Imagine being such a pathetic nationalist that you can't even think of something grossly offensive from your own nation. You have to import your hatred from another country like... well... a globalist. You stand for nothing. Your ideology is not grounded in science. You are grounded in hatred. Everything you believe in is reactionary. Enjoy watching the world leave you behind as you cry about cultural marxism.
@Epop_
@Epop_ 3 жыл бұрын
@The internet is globalist propaganda I... what... I responded. Are you okay? I challenged your claim regarding the politicization of science, and made my position clear on medical vs social models of disability. Also did you just equate sensory issues with intellectual maturity? Hugboxes are a therapeutic device designed to apply pressure to the body of a hypersensitive person (usually someone on the autism spectrum) in order to calm them by providing grounding sensory stimulation. I'm not immature for knowing when I need a hug lol. If anything that DEMONSTRATES maturity. Something you clearly lack if you think it's acceptable behaviour to ridicule a disabled person's coping methods.

What Locke put on Boone’s wound was Kava. It’s ground up roots of a plant. It causes drowsiness and anxiety reduction by slowing down heart rate and blood pressure, some say they get a weed or slightly hallucinogenic high from it. It probably would have worked faster straight to the bloodstream but the Hawaiians seep it in water and drink it like tea at cultural gatherings. Amazon probably has packets of Kava, if anyone would like to try it for themselves. It’s legal but the FDA says use with caution. I bought some from the Flea Market, it made my tongue tingle and I got a slight happy, mellow high for about 30 minutes then I was ready to go home and take a nap. It was cool that they worked it into the show as a homeopathic Hawaiian hat tip. Too bad pakalolo wasn’t legal then to be able to show on tv. Charlie wouldn’t have minded going from heroine to pot.
