I'm not mocking them, the show is bad. But funny af and a great reaction show. They are having fun. That's the point of TV. I honestly thought the show was horrible, but kept watching it, why, because regardless on how bad the writing and tension were, it was addictive

@Bruce Wayne acting, dialogue, story was bad. But I loved Cats, The Room, etc. I like bad things, because they make for fun noise

I was talking about those who INSULTS THEM, like actually calling them names for watching this show. I don’t care about your personal preference. If you don’t like the show or the reaction to this show, then don’t watch it. Watching the reactions for 5 weeks and yet still trash-talking about it in the comments because the crew aren’t reacting to their favourite shows are just shonky.

@@shortstuff780 sure its cheesy and the dialogue is corny but it is based on a romance novel. Many people, mostly women, like that stuff. To them it is "good".

That's sad, I didn't notice the bad comments. I love that they are reacting to something so "out of their lane" so to speak. Guys have watched and loved this show. It makes it more fun to watch 4 guys watching a show like this, it's absolutely hilarious. It was actually a smart move on their part as it will probably draw in more female viewers.

Look up the Oneida Religious Community of the 1820s and 30s. It was a religious community that did not believe in marriage and instead believed that they were all communally married. They instructed the young men in the practice of continence. Typically, the young men would have sex with older women past their child bearing years. When the men could maintain sexual pleasure for significant time without ejaculating, they would then be free to have sex with any willing women in the community. Continence was far more widely practiced in earlier times. So, men got better at it then they do in our times.

@@ayannabranchcomb7535 The Oneida community often chose to have children, but while continence was practiced it wasn't always successful, so there were oppsies, but not at the same level as their is today. It's also interesting there the usage of condoms was well known too. You will find the euphemism "French Letters" in the mid-1700s to refer to condoms made of animal intestine. It's more interesting to talk about groups like the Shakers who chose celibacy as part of their communal lifestyle. They took in orphans from just about anyone. A large portion of those orphans chose to remain Shakers in their adulthoods. Modern laws that required that children only be adopted in the same religion of their parents basically killed off the Shakers..

They did a fairly good job at casting for the Bridgertons as Colin certainly acts as naive as he is in book one (although he's not really there much). Though as a side note, I wonder how things will work out for book four's storyline. As spoilers, gonna put it in the dropdown.... It feels like they cast Colin for the age he starts out as, but Penelope as the age she will be for her book. And she does a great job of portraying a younger age, I'm just curious as to whether the actor for Colin will be able to pull off the older, wiser and more worldly role of his character in book four. It's easier to pretend to be younger as we've experienced that, much more difficult to pull off a role a decade older than you are. Certainly can't wait to see how it goes though.

@@melaniev9446 well, he will grow up between now and when they start filming his story, so that will probably help. It all comes down to his skill as an actor, and probably some changes to his facial hair situation

@@ayannabranchcomb7535 The actor is only going to age about two, maybe three years versus the almost 12 years Colin gets in the books. We often see older actors portraying younger roles, but rarely someone young portraying an older role as it is far more difficult to pull off. It's a difficult enough situation that I feel they probably are going to do one of two things. Most likely, they'll cut the 11-12 years down to 4 or 5 or they'll recast him. I genuinely however lean towards the idea that they'll cut the amount of years down as it's the simplest solution. In the books the jump of over a decade from book 1 to 4 isn't so jarring, but for TV it certainly would throw everyone off if season four is suddenly 8 years after season three. With a shorter amount of time, they can easily have season 4 take place only four or five years after season 1 leaving the actor to portray a character now only a year older than he really is. And yeah sorry, three weeks has given me enough time to figure out the solution is obvious and makes so much sense even for the story.

@@melaniev9446 lol you’re totally right, nobody would buy a 12 year age difference so 4-5 makes more sense. And the story would still be believable, he’s finished school and already had this experience with marina, and he’ll have travelled the world and probably “sowed his oats” by the time he comes back so he could be mature enough to handle a marriage

Ton is literally the Anglo-Saxon word for town here in England. All the towns around my area end in ‘ton’ ie Bedlington, Ashington, Cramlington etc

@@Vurawn410 You're absolutely right, I'm also in England here :) As language evolved the two words were used interchangeably, records are spotty as to when exactly the upper classes co-opted the 'ton' to refer to the social hierarchy, then as the social dynamics of the country changed the word was pretty much dropped from every day vernacular.

Right, although the Church of England in regency era wouldn't have had services or weddings very different from the Catholic Church, so if you don't know the history I suppose it all looks the same compared to like Lutheran or Presbyterian.
