The chickens here on the pretend farm are now under surveillance! In this video I’ll explain what cameras I choose and why I picked them.

I had a blink camera before on the front of my house. All the motion activated triggered events drained the batteries in only about a month so it would be the same or worse in a coop where your birds are constantly triggering. That 2 yr they throw out is for a less active place like a side yard or back yard with no kids or dogs in it LOL.

Absolutely! I was monitoring my chickens almost continuously the first 2 months and my batteries lasted about a month. I’ve since then made some adjustments to the recordings so that I’m just intermittently checking in on my feathered friends. Still a nice option to have for sure!

How has this system worked out for you?
@pretendfarm6 ай бұрын
Good. It allows me to see what my animals are doing when I can’t be home. It costs me no money other than the initial cost

Have you considered this to be worthwhile since you installed them and do you still have them installed? I asked because I recently lost one of my geese. Somehow it has just up and disappeared. No trace of it whatsoever and it really brought my spirits down. I have security cameras around my house but obviously they can’t detect what’s going on around my chicken coop seeing that it’s about 50-100 feet away from my house and at night time there’s no telling then since it’s basically pitch black.

how bad is your battery life? I'm struggling with mine dying quickly! EVRRY 2-7 DAYS!!

So the receiver goes in the house and then you play into your phone or PC via your wi fi? still working? Thanks

Yes. The receiver or “sync module” as they call it plugs in the wall. Then you pair the cameras to your phone just like a Bluetooth speaker. Still working great! Only downside is it only records when it detects motion. You can’t just go back and look at any time of day. Other than that it’s good

@@pretendfarm Does the sync module need to be constantly by the camera? I do not have power by the coop So the module would need to be in a shed about 300 yards away.
@pretendfarm Жыл бұрын
@@steveshannonmavica8752 I have my sync module about 100’ from my camera. That’s probably about the limit though. The sync module can’t be too far from the Wi-Fi signal, and the cameras can’t be too far from the sync module. I’m not sure of the allowable distance but I think you’re stretching it a bit too far. Sorry 😞
