Join us as we take a step back in time to the Victorian era, here in England, where we visit the brilliant Blists Hill Victorian Living Museum.
The Blists Hill Victorian Town Museum is in Ironbridge, Telford, UK and is said to be the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution.
We take a complete tour of this Victorian Town, starting off by changing our cash to old money at the Lloyds Bank, all the way to the far end of the town to the Hay Incline Plane.
We join in a traditional music hall sing song in the old pub, and learn about lots of trading skills along the way.
You couldn't visit the Blists Hill Victorian Town without visiting the old chip shop, where the chips are cooked in beef fat, or getting a bag of old style sweets for the journey home.
At the end of our trip to the museum, we head a few minutes down the road into the town of Ironbridge where we look around the town, marvel at the stunning, Thomas Farnolls Pritchard designed, 'Iron Bridge'.
In true postcard and a pint style, we finish of the day with a nice cold pint.

Welcome to the official Postcard & A Pint KZfaq channel.
Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. I grew up with a Victorian I Pad and didn't even know it. LOL! We have been to a few living museums like this here in the US and we always love them. It is so cool to experience just a bit of what life used to be like in past generations. The actors at these places dressed in period costume are always fun to talk with about what their life was like in the past. Wills certainly had a lot going on in Victorian times. I'm not even exaggerating when I say this is EXACTLY the sort of place I would absolutely go wild for. Immersive, recreated history is one of my favorite things... museums with rebuilt rooms, old manors with recreated spaces... a whole village of it and I'd go crazy! We actually have pioneer village in the middle of our city, but it's like a postage stamp compared to Blists Hill. I love that's it's museums within a museum as well. Very meta. Just a lovely place I know we're going to have to check out when we visit. Ironbridge looks fantastic as well! What a quaint, gorgeous place. Perfect spot for a shandy. Great little tour. You had great weather to enjoy along with the great museum. To see everything here takes a couple of days or visits. Blists Hill is so interesting. Our last visit was a few years back when they had a special Victorian Christmas event on. I very much enjoyed following you around here.

We enjoyed stepping back in time visiting Blists Hill with you, Rachel and Wills. Looks like a lot of fun and chips/fries always tasted better cooked with animal fat. It's only recently (okay, maybe 20-30 years) that's changed here. Darn, we eat candles quite often and didn't know you weren't supposed too! Beautiful town, lovely architecture, quaint shops, and fun museums. Loved spending the day there with you!

I love folk museums and Blists Hill looks like a really good one. The buildings were all quite substantial, the little town of Ironbridge was sweet too. Amazing to think the first bridge made of iron was in 1779.

We love the "open Air- back to the past" Museum. We have a few here in 🇳🇱 as well. You had a lovely day for it, as it wasn't that busy and the sun was out 🤩! I sure recognized a few 'golden oldie' household cleaners and lolly items. Loved the piano player and his singing support act. The tales one hears 😂 😂! Glad you got to spend your penny 😂 😂 😂 ! Those inkt wells on the desks - the boy behind me dipped my ponytail into the inkt. Mum wasn't pleased- the stain stayed. Loved the pottery lady and her story. Oh that bridge was AMAZING. Living it... Thats the best way to experience a museum. I am with Will, the money looked like a challenge of sorts. This museum did a wonderful job making you feel emerged in that time. oh, That building did look sad. 😩. Tons of information complimented by brilliant music choices. I agree, worth the fee to visit this museum. I would have to hit that Christmas shop as well.

What a great video! No wonder you love this museum. I have expected you to snap your fingers and be transformed into Victorian dress. It’s amazing how much stuff that they had for you to go through and experience Victorian life.

My dear friends! You don't know how I enjoyed watching your video! Really a lot! This very special museum is simply stunning! I'd stay there for hours! Truly an immersion in the time of Queen Victoria to understand how life was in those times. Everything is very well done. Truly the most unique museum I have ever seen and a lot of fun. It must have been a unique experience. You guys have been great at showing us everything and in the best way. It seemed to be there with you, to enter every environment and discover it! Hey Rachel and Will, love the music!! We don’t like museums but I have stay that looks pretty interesting. Love that there’s not a lot of ready about it but actually experiencing it. That’s what we are all about. About we have never seen any museum like that! Definitely putting it on our list! This is one of our favorite videos.

I went there as a kid and have loved it ever since. I took Wills a long time ago and didn’t like it as much, but they’ve really worked on it a lot over the years and it’s a great day out. I think you guys would enjoy it. Thanks for watching, now go get some chips!!! 🍻

Just watched this with hubby,and after london this is one of your best"thoo all yours are good".We love this sort of stuff,near us is a place called bygones were you see how it was years ago.this place blows it outa da water,we both said we love a place were you could step back in time.i love the way you both changed a fiver to old money,and bought stuff lavender bag ect.there was a cock joke in there somewere,but my fav is theres a idiot lol.we will deff be going to this place,and loved the ironbridge,even thoo someone was reving there poxy bike while you was trying to talk.And will owns alot the town.loved this from start to lovely finish and the music was on point.my hubby loved the para joke! have a quick week and stay safe debs xx ps you always seem to find xmas shops when its not xmas,my hubby said they got a xmas land in america that wills would love.10/10 for this

You’ve got to do the sing song in the pub - did you spot that the pianist is also the policeman (I think he is in your video - we only see the back of his head!!). Also couldn’t help noticing when you were eating your chips - were those kids kicking ducks?? I need to watch again to check! 🤣 Fab video. Thoroughly enjoyed. Xx

I did think the policeman was the same guy, didn’t ask him to find out. The kids were just scaring the ducks, if they’d kicked one, then I would be most cross and telling them off! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the joke!! Well thank Ella!!

Loved the skipping! What a fantastic place, the singalong was awesome, the actors were good sports to let you film them, it really helped give us a real feel for the town! I bet the incline plane was a spectacle in the day. £21.50 is not a bad price for all those sights and activities! Never been to Ironbridge, it looks very quaint! Of course there is a Christmas Shop, how on earth do you find these places? Nice shandy and summary guys! Cheers to the good times! 🍻

The skulking was definitely a tribute to you two!! It’s a great museum and I think it’s very worth the money for all you get (parking not included though!!!). We loved Ironbridge - we were lucky the entire day was so quiet with people, I’m sure it’s not as pleasant when it’s heaving with tourists!! Can it be truly Victorian without barefoot street urchins and the consumption? That aside it does look like fun. Coincidentally we found a quaint old wooden drop dunny, still in use (I mean available to use, I didn't surprise some poor old church goer on the shitter), at a church on our current trip. Horrible flash backs to my youth. It even had a red backed spider like the song says.

Oh wow, difficult question. You can quite happily spend half a day at Blists Hill. The music in the pub is only at certain times (from memory we went around midday). We've not done the other museums together, but I think I've been to Coalport as a child, so we can't really help you on those, but if you want to experience all the shops, talks, music and interact with the 'townsfolk' a good half day should do you. Why are green candles bad?

They were miners candles, they put copper oxide in them so all miners had green candles. If you were found to have had one at home, it meant you’d stolen it!! They were also poisonous!!

The Lifestyle of the Victorian Policeman was particularly harsh & the pay was poor, about the same as a Farm Labourer, well through it was better in some City Forces.
