As a long time Colts fan I was so excited for Luck to be our new QB and the future of our franchise. But the way we neglected the offense line and him taking hit after hit game after game was just brutal. Ever year I hoped we'd draft some players for the offensive line but it just never happened.. It's an absolute shame what happened with Luck and it's 100% the fault of the Colts management.

The Indianapolis Colts booing this man is one of the most shameful things I've seen.

There is nothing tragic about Andrew Luck. He decided to leave the NFL before he suffered life altering injuries. Good for him he made the right decision for himself. He's got plenty of money and his health which is all you need in life, not to be a legendary football player with brain damage

The fact that Colts fans booed Luck after announcing his retirement really made my head boil! At that time, it made sense to me why Luck chose to retire and that disrespect just made me feel bad for him!

I like the fact he held off going pro to finish his degree. He was looking ahead just incase it didn’t work out and had his degree to fall back on. More players should do that, especially as they can make a good income whilst still at college now.

I’ll never forget that playoff game against my Chiefs! His drive, determination, and outright talent was on full display that day as he ruined my day and sent the Chiefs home.

He gets a lot of crap for retiring but those that hate him have no soul. Just because he didn't want mashed potatoes for brains and a broken body....I respect him for giving up his passion to live his best life.

Luck was SMART to retire given the pain and abuse he was taking... he protected his entire life by ending a sadly short NFL career.

Andrew Luck is NOT a tragedy. He is a quality person and smarter than most. He played hard, excelled in every endeavor he applied himself to and walked away with some money and his health. The Colts let him down…..not the other way. This does not stop him from being one of the very best NFL quarterbacks EVER.

Watching him in those clips really reiterates how talented and capable of a player Luck was. Everything was done with finesse. It would have been great to see him thrive with a well-rounded team that could have ran the routes and kept him protected in the pocket. What a great man/player/person.

Luck is a personal hero of mine. When he retired, I was going through some tough times and not sure which direction to go career-wise. His courage and example meant a lot to me at that time. Respect to him for making the best decision for him and his family regardless of pressure

I've had both shoulders worked on. Right one is okay, left one isn't. My PT is a Andrew Luck fan. My PT tried everything he knew to get me back whole. Well it didn't work. I'm not in sports just a guy that wants a pain free life. Well that ain't happening. I totally understand Mr. Luck's decision. I wish him the best in life because that's more important than a football career!

As someone who has had at least 13 concussions, including surviving 3 IEDs & a RPG that permanently disabled me in Afghanistan I can tell you repeatedly having hits to the head & trauma can destroy your life . I was a prisoner of my own home for almost 7 years after the RPG , unable to even drive . Then we moved to Branson Mo and I began fishing & started to emerge from A dark hole . Then in a span of 6 weeks I was involved in 2 bad car accidents suffering 2 more concussions & I’m right back where I was . Going to therapy 4/5 times a week because of other’s negligence. I don’t know what the future holds for me but I’m going to do my best to live whatever life I have left to the fullest . Nothing in this life is guaranteed I learned that long ago , but taking unnecessary risks when you already have had tremendous trauma to your head is a no win situation.

This is ridiculous. Andrew Luck was able to keep $25 million dollars when he retired instead of returning it as part of the contract. The owner was so rich he allowed him to keep it. I have no tears for him, you shouldnt either.

He chose his health over a GAME. I respect him for that. He is thinking long term and he chose what he wanted

Not many pro athletes with his potential are brave enough to say "fuck this shit I'm out" in their prime, but I'm glad he was smart enough to do so and prioritized his health over fame. Also helps he wisely spent/invested the money he did make while playing.

I am Hooser. I just started getting into football. I knew about Andrew Luck and watched him play growing up but I never knew why he retired. I did research and discovered the tragedy that this man endured for the people who didn’t care about him. Anthony Richardson won’t be the same case because he doesn’t have the stress and expectations as much as Luck did. Plus I don’t think AR is willing to fight through injuries for the team. I don’t think Lucks story should ever be forgotten. This was the worst thing people can do to one man, trying to fight for a team. The fans booing at him for essentially saving himself from more heartbreak really makes me hate the fellow fans around me. However…. I think IF (not should have) he had decided to stay with the Colts he would’ve prospered. The O line was good and our O line now is pretty solid. He would’ve had incredible offensive weapons at his disposal. I think the words in this video ring true. Luck is the biggest “What if?” In NFL history

I played soccer for many years, my biggest regrets looking back, why did I play many games hurt when I didn’t have to. Now I can’t even walk hard. Taking care of yourself is your responsibility because, after the football years you are on your own and none of these people will be there to deal with your heath issues. Andrew luck studied at Stanford.

He’s worth about $200 million, has a masters degree from Stanford, has a wife and family, and left the game before life debilitating injuries; all before the age of 40. I’d be ok to live such a “tragic” life.

I remember that first matchup with Denver and Peyton Manning. It was an epic struggle and Indy got the win, but I remember Luck taking way too many hits. I think he was out for a few games after with a lacerated Kidney. That was only the beginning of his career. So Luck beat Manning, but Manning played every game that season and Luck didn't.

To this day, I remember how the colts fans booed him instead of Irsay and his incompetent front office. They deserved mediocity from then on.

Luck did the right thing by retiring . He played football since he was a child . All that contact and hits takes a toll on a player . And being a qb all his life takes a toll on your arm . If he played longer he could have been seriously physically and neurologically damaged permanently, like for example Steelers 19 year center Mike Webster, RB Earl Campbell and others . Brett Favre went as far as telling kids don't play football if you like other sports , and for your life long recreation, and thinking ability, and for your family, friends and your own sakes

Never got to fulfill his potential as a QB, but he's a success as a human being.

I grew up in Baltimore after we were robbed of our franchise. I have loathed Indy for as long as I can remember. That being said, I have always admired, and had respect for Luck. Good on him for having the guts to walk away from something he loved, to ensure a better future for himself.

The worst part was is that the year he retired was when the Colts actually managed to put a good team together, and FINALLY invest in a decent O-line

I grew up in Houston and went to Stratford high school. Craig James also went to Stratford. They were kick ass high school football players for sure.

What's tragic about it. I just played college football and only can imagine the talent it takes for anyone to make it to the NFL. In the grand scheme of things he had nothing to worry about.

A lot of people don't realize that Andrew Luck's combine numbers, although they weren't as good as RG3's, they were comparable to Cam Newton's who was drafted the year before!!!

There's nothing tragic. The funny thing about QB is if you get the ball out quick enough, you can cut the hits to take in half. Luck held on to the ball way too long and never ever slid.

Indianapolis is a horribly run franchise. Their owner should be in prison for the things he's done off the field. The only reason he's not in prison is because he lucked (no pun intended) his way into the 2 best QB prospects in the last 30 years and had some success. If you get drafted by the Colts, do what John Elway did... refuse to play. Elway saw it 40 years ago. The Irsay family is corrupt to the core. I feel bad for any player who has to play for that organization.

Tragic is not the right term to use for Andrew Luck. He got paid even in the last year where he didn't play. The only tragedy is the football card collectors who spent big money on his autographed rookie cards and serial numbered rookie cards and lost all their investment in this dude. I didn't mess with him because I didn't like his game like others did. He threw to many picks. I just collected Brady, Mahomes and now Stroud.

Luck went to Stanford for a reason - intelligence. He was smart enough to see that wouldn't last long in the NFL if he stayed longer on a team with an offensive line that could never give him the protection he needed. He always had a mediocre offensive line and the punishment just wasn't worth it.

People tend to forget football is a job for these players. A job that supports themselves and their families. If you got injured every time you worked, risk losing it all or becoming immobile, wouldn’t you want to leave as well?

In my opinion, if you wanna build a championship team, it doesn't start with the QB. It starts with a solid offensive line. Then, only then you find your QB, build the playbook around him. Then build receivers around him. Without a solid O-line, even HoF QBs would fail.
