Agreed, he was great. Like the video said, consistently great, for many years. Man, I’d watch him play and sometimes my jaw would drop… like “how?!! How did he just do that?!” Some of my best football memories are from watching a play totally break down and Russell Wilson make pure magic outta nothing… time and time, and time, again. I’m afraid all of that greatness will be lost in his story, all because of these crappy later chapters. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Smh it’s a real disappointment how it ended in Seattle. Anyway, I remember how good he was! I’ll always remember 🫡🏈💙💚

Being an SD charger fan for 20 years, I moved to Seattle. I thought I'd never have a Superbowl ever. But I was loyal. Then Russell was in, and I thought, whatever it is, what it is. I never thought Russell could get it done. I was naysayer like everyone else. When the Seahawks won the SB, I was so happy. I lived in Las Vegas, and the UNLV rebels won a national championship. I was in hog heaven. What a life.

He’s a great player. The problem with the end of his run in Seattle is that ownership spent too much money on Russell Wilson and too little to build up the rest of them team when the Legion of Boom left. Russell Wilson deserves to get rewarded for his hard work like anyone else but when it comes to the NFL you have to balance between reward your players for hard work and maintaining a team that can win Super Bowls.

I agree. The other thing was pete carroll refused to change his schemes, replenish players & keep the team hungry. If pete carroll traded et, sherman & chancellor from 2015-17, they wouldve have reloaded & wouldve put them in a better spot.

You can also mention that they kind of sucked at drafting. For a Run first team, they couldn't maintain a good healthy RB since Lynch left. 2015 they had a mix of rawls, Cheeseburger Lacy, and Fred Jackson at the end of his career. After that they never really had a legit starting RB besides Chris Carson, but he had his fair share of injuries. One can say that teams were able to adapt to Seattle since Seattle really had no legitimate run game.

As a Seahawks fan, I’ve watched every snap of Russel Wilson’s career. It’s apparent that many of his detractors don’t know what they are talking about. After the Super Bowl run, the Seahawks consistently had a bottom tier offensive line. Management chose to invest in defensive stars and skimp on O line. Russ was running for his life every snap. Remember, this is the team who actually converted a TE and Defensive linemen into STARTING tackles! What a joke. Schneider threw Russ to the wolves because Russ was a god at scrambling and throwing on the run. Eventually, this strategy led to little injuries that added up. Russ got blamed for “slipping”. So sad. If Tom Brady was the qb he would have gotten killed. I believe he got sick of not being protected and forced his way out. Unfortunately he went for the money and went to a team with no one around him. I feel he will do well in Pittsburgh with better coaching and talent around him.

Drew lock did not play in the last 2 games of the 2023-24 season, Jarrett Stidham did. Drew lock was one of the players that was traded to the Seahawks. Drew lock started in week 14 and 15 for the seahawks because Geno Smith was injured. We lost to the 49ers in week 14, but put together a game winning drive to beat the Eagles 20-17.

The next installment will be the rise and fall and rise of Russell Wilson. The Steelers know what they are doing. They are going to put Wilson in a position to succeed while they try to get Fields straightened out. If Fields is able to learn how to read defenses the Steelers will look like genuses. We may end up looking back on this in a few years as the big quarterback story of the year. By the way I am not being a homer, I am a Vikings fan.

I for one think he'll turn it around in Pittsburgh, but not to the height of his early days in Seattle. He's not quite as mobile and that was a big factor, getting out of the pocket. But Pittsburgh can build players because of the salary cap gift and the whole team could make a run. Just not on his back alone.

Since Lynch left after the 2014 season, the seahawks didn't have any legitimate runningbacks. For a run first team they surely didn't do so hot. Exception for Rawls on a short run and Chris Carson who was awesome (but he had his fair share of injuries). Besides that, the rest of the runningbacks they had just couldn't get it done.

The end for Russ was on the goal line in the fourth quarter durring his second superbowl. He called an audible because he wanted to throw the game winning touchdown pass because he was still bitter about not winning MVP the year before. Instead, he effectively threw away his career by being selfish. He had Marshawn fucking Lynch in his backfield and needed one yard. They could have told the Pat's what play they were running and still made it. It was brilliant the way Carrol played out the end of Russels' contract, though. Fooled the whole league into thinking Russ was still an elite quarterback who could single handedly win games.

I am not sure how good Russell was supposed to be. I think Pete and John wanted an x-factor QB, but not a goat. Russell Wilson is a great QB, and he has a clutch like talent - or at least he did. But people get confused that consistent flashes of brilliance (which he had in spades particularly at the end of games) is NOT the same thing as someone who can carry a team on his shoulders despite all odds. There was a time where defenses just couldn't play him consistently because he was so illusive. He did his best work out of the pocket, and it was really difficult to contain him because he could wriggle out. So you couldn't contain him consistently, and he was too fast for rushers, and either way he made you pay. I think he started losing that ability towards the later half of the decade, even in 2015 and 2016. He still played at a high level and could do magical things, but the Seahawks became instead of a well rounded team, a team that depended more and more on Russell being magic. He had lost just a sliver of illusiveness, but if you see the narrow margins of how he escaped earlier in his career, all it took was that sliver to help defenses catch him. Man how I wish he could have stayed humble and adjusted his own expectations of himself, but I know how hard that is for generationally talented people to do, especially when they are at their peak.

this video really missed the true point. Wilson's downfall had NOTHING to do with stats, and the trade to the Broncos was not Carroll and Schneider 'cashing out'. All of it - the downfall, the trade, and getting cut - was a result of him becoming a diva. After great success for a couple years being completely focused on winning football, he wanted to "Let Russ Cook" (throw the ball more), have more input into personnel decisions, and was more concerned with his legacy than winning football games. He married a pop star and turned Hollywood, his teammates resented him, but Pete Carroll protected him from that until he couldn't any more. Then, Wilson demanded a trade, and dictated which teams he would go to. When he went to Denver, he no longer had Carroll to protect him and game plan to maximize his skills and hide his weaknesses, and got exposed.

I see a lot of myself in Russell Wilson. He undoubtedly has ADD and could possibly be on the edge of the autism spectrum, as I also am. I would also suspect an IQ north of 140 - probably somewhere around 160 on logic and 125 or creativity. It's scary how much I understand what's going on in his head. You ever have that friend who you never talk to for months or years, then you run into each other and it's all good? We need people like that in our lives. I'm also somewhat reclusive because I'm afraid of my social awkwardness. I could not imagine trying to fit into an NFL locker room without just being "wrong." Give the man some space - if you can, ask the questions. The right questions.

For all the people that were upset about Sean Payton mistreating Russell Wilson which was bad people need to realize Russell Wilson did all this to himself when he demanded a trade out of Seattle and he’s never taken any accountability for it russell Wilson has no one to blame but himself for his downfall

As a Seahawk fan, there was a satisfaction watching Russ tank at Denver, "finding out the grass isn't greener" For those who don't know Russ made a statement saying he wasn't going anywhere and 2 weeks later he left for Denver. This left a foul taste in alot of hawks fans mouth which is why he was booed like crazy when he returned. Now I'm rooting for him and would love nothing more than for him to kick ass for the Steelers. as a last kind of "FU" to SP. "I steel got it"

@@dreowens6371 ohh I see, now the rings doesn't matter, so you tell me the way the HOF works is moving the goal post, obviously are some dudes that only won 1 ring being carried, but if you won 2 SB's, and 1 SB MVP, 1 regular season MVP, and 1 comeback of the year, you were doing something right, Russ only won 1 SB and he doesn't won the MVP of that SB, and had 0 regular season MVP'S sure the stats and the accomplishments should count, but for someones the way they select doesn't make sense, I'm not a Raiders fan, but some players of that team establish records and they're not in the HOF, for example Tom Flores won 3 SB's one as an assistant coach, and 2 as a HC and was selected to the HOF after Tony Dungy

Dude this isn't a fall off. This dude is a superbowl champion, he made it the the superbowl again, he has consistently been going to the pro bowl, he should've gotten an mvp, he's been consistently going to the playoffs even with a mediocre seahawks team. This isn't a fall off. Longevity is something that only a few can achieve, like Tom Brady. You can't say that he fell off shortly after being a "superbowl hero." I'd be surprised if he didn't make it to the hall of fame. If he doesn't, it'll be because of his career as a bronco.

@@quintinsigers5305 Yeah I agree seahawks were mediocre. I'm talking about Russell Wilson as an individual. The NFC west still remained one of the more consistently competitive divisions. Try to name another one other than possible AFC north. Even AFC north was just the steelers and the Ravens tho.

Russell never fell all he just went to a bad team that was all ready in the dumps. he had a good in 2023. he had over 3000 passing yard, 26 TDs ,and 8 INTS. and almost took Denver to the playoffs. But now he's about to get payed 30 million by Denver. so now he can sign with a new team (when he gets cut) and only ask for 2 million. Then his new team can have a great QB and still sign a huge amount of talent on OF and DE. So honestly Russell Wilson is RISING! You got your story right before you just make a video Bro.

I’ve said it before to others, Denver was simply a bad fit for him. No matter how good somebody is, they have to have be a good fit to succeed no matter how talented they are. I think Wilson has a lot left in the tank still and sometimes it’s first year struggles that can happen in a new city, new culture, new system, etc. I kind of figured he’d have a better second year but if he finds the right team that can utilize him better, he could possibly win one more Super Bowl before his career ends.
