Well dude you all are actually entertaining and it surprised me I didn't mind the vid length. Metallica lost me on buying blind after the Black album but they have had good stuff since just not a whole album so I wonder how I will feel about this. I hope its not bloated with filler tracks like Hardwired did. That album would have been great with just 8 tracks. That guy is right Death Magnetic came off forced and they sound like they rushed the writing. So I really don't know what to expect. Cliff was a major influence on their older stuff and James used to write all the lyrics the quality of their songs has dropped since the others have more input. And Darkness was better live when they cut that fucking long ass beginning, its as annoying as Am I evil, even though both was good songs! DO KILL 'EM ALL!!!!! People do need to stop crying they will never again be raw like they was as pissed off teenagers and early 20s guys with Cliff and his influence and enjoy their evolution!

36:08 you fellas must not be drummers or aware of how the instrument is played. But I can assure you the “going away” of the hi-hats when the bass drum accent occurs is not an “edit” lol. What’s happening is Lars’ right hand is traveling to the crash cymbals. The bass drum strikes have no hi-hat, it’s a crash cymbal which is a different frequency. Hope this helps. 👍

I really like almost every song which is pretty rare for me. I liked about half the songs on hardwired, but this one I like all but two of the songs which are track 4 and the "if darkness had a son". Chasing light is good, room of mirrors is good and has a dyer's eve type of vibe. And "crown of barbed wire" chorus is so bad ass. I do haven't digested the last few songs on the record but so far I like this album a lot. The vocal melodies and guitar riffs are awesome on this record.

This album has grown on me a lot in the last couple weeks. Lux and the last 3 songs hit me immediately but the more I've taken it in, the more I appreciate this album as a whole. My ONLY complaint is the guitar tone/feel is so similar across the whole thing, it feels more like one big song than individual ones. But I'm happy.

Similar experience. Felt like a flatline chug most of the time, with some nuggets every now and then that felt immediately wasted. Frustrating listen, but there was something intriguing enough about it that I kept giving it another go and another. Inamorata definitely hit me the strongest, and overall I ended up appreciating the whole album for what it is, and not dismissing it for what I wished it was. Definitely redemption after Hardwired...

@@PatrickMusilek James used a Hot-Rodded Marshall Head that Eddie Van Halen gave to him as gift. James wanted to use this Marshall Head on "Hardwired" but the amp wasn't working properly. They were able to get the legendary Jim Soldono to fix the head before making "72 Seasons" so that's the guitar tone your mindless ears are stepping on. Listening to you guys talk about instruments shows your ignorance of tones and sounds. And the whole band has agreed to write songs that they can play until they are 70 and maybe older, because they aren't a band that's gonna stop anytime soon. And why is Rudolph's father a human, holy red nose bro. Songs with strings, they all have strings, you should say acoustic guitar or classical instruments, because those literally are more straightforward.

Too Far Gone?, Room of Mirrors and Inmorata have great harmonies that I really enjoy that let me keep wanting to revisit those songs. I really wish this album had more harmonies like that. If I was the producer I’d have pushed this album in the direction. Like come on lads, this is the great shite that like a great rug really ties the room together. I feel like they Metallica misinterpreted why people didn’t like LuLu. I’m upset we don’t get some of the style guitars, ballad sound from the song Jr Dad. I want to like Jr. Dad but then Lou who just sounds tone deaf talking over Metallica I want to hear. I also wish there was a Instrumental on the album. I love hearing classical metallica guitars then mixing with heavy metal guitars. Love to see them go back to those elements again. You Must Burn! Has a nice slow groove. Lux is a nice fun fast song. But overall the first listen through, I have to just accept that Metallica moves in their own direction. Right now I want the direction Tool moved into. Trippy metal. When you listen to Orion from 1986 before Tool existed. Tool as a band especially with FI have gone great metal that in an alternate reality Metallica did more in that space. More music like Orion. Taking us on a visual journey. My hopes. As an adult, Tool hasn’t let me down with their new albums. Metallica new albums I find a couple of songs I can love. Examples…. I love The Day That Never Comes & Spit Out The Bone. To me those two songs are as good as any song off the early albums. I truly love them on that level. I don’t know if I can say that with any song on here yet. But I do love those harmonies on the last 3 songs of 72 seasons.

I feel like you're always going to hear things that sound like parts of other songs. That is to be expected from a band that has been around for so long and had basically the same songwriters the whole time. But, don't let it take away from the current song or album itself.

Hey that is ME wearing the yellow lol! But I will take the compliment! Chris Schoenberg (who is to my right, in the room with me) wears a different metal band shirt every day. And I mean every day too. We went garage sale-ing in 90° weather last weekend and he literally wore a black metal shirt!

Yeah I’ve honestly felt the last two albums were under gained. 72 tone is better than Hardwired where the guitars were distractingly weak for the material, but still missing something here. The incessant splashy hi hat got really old and I feel the album is too bassy and muddy, but still better than HW. Some EQ, more bite I’m the guitars, and don’t play the hi hat for 80 minutes straight and it’s a damn solid album.

But anyways good video and enjoy the rest of your day :p

I love songs that are 5 to 8 minutes but songs that are 3 to 4 minutes are some that hit hard though. For me this album is something else. Kill Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, And Justice For All and The Black Album can't be touched by any band even them, but these last 2 albums are awesome.

@@PatrickMusilek I don’t know about them. One of my favorite bands growing up was Alice In Chains. They had a song called Godsmack which I believe is a reference to heroin. Anyways I thought Godsmack was way too influenced by Alice In Chains. Example Voodoo sounds close to Would? by Alice In Chains.

After listening this album 10 times or so, stating that my first impresion was meh+, now I really love the album overall. I think it's the metallica fan in me that always wants more, but always forget that they are in 2023 just like me, and time flies, and I dont know where I am in time, I forget very often that they aren't the guys who I felt in love in justice, but they are still a great band, and they are still honest, and that is a key to analysing music. If the musicians are honest, their music has to evolve just like them, evolve not in the way you want, just the way it is. You're no longer in your 20's, so you your music should sound like in your 20's, wouldn't that be trying to imitate your own young self?

Garage inc. is new covers and a reissue of the original garage days revisited and all of the covers that they would put on their singles. Also one of the rare times where it sounds like they were having fun in the studio.

So many interesting ideas in this album. Love the vocal experimentations, especially. But as always with modern Metallica, everything needs to be %30 shorter. They desperately need a real producer that can say no to them, but that's not gonna happen since they seem to value the comfort and control that comes with an in-house yes-man engineer like Fidelman more. All in all a very enjoyable but "just OK" album. Inamorata is an instant classic though. Best song since The Outlaw Torn.

I'm guessing someone else posted this already, but the "awkward" Crown of Barbed Wire riff is a Kirk riff rather than James who writes most of their riffs). Actually, I believe Metallica posted the sound check video where Kirk came up with the riff a few years ago and James started playing along with him. Kirk also wrote the main riff for 72 Seasons, in case you care Also, Rob does backing vocals in a few spots for once, including the LEAN ON ME in the chorus of Chasing Light
