Pretty sure if philo takes king, the demon learns that the philo is the philo, as the philo gains the ability, but does not *become* that role. So, the ability states "The Demon learns who you are," and the philo king is still the philo.

You are correct, a role with the ability X knows who you are will result in Philo and canni if they are the ones with the ability.

Right, unless TPI has officially changed it, the King says 'The Demon knows who you are.' not 'The Demon knows you are the King.' As has been stated repeatedly for other role, the Philo is still the Philo, they just have the ability of the role they choose.

This has been officially clarified. All ability notifications like this reference the character whose ability is being used. Whether Philosopher, Pixie, or Cannibal, if you have another character's notification ability, the notification will reference you as the character whose ability you are using and not as your actual role.

Fun new plan: Philo into King, then claim Philo NWM to everyone. Whoever says they got your ping's the demon. Foolproof.

I think Braxx drops his hand at that point. They really needed Avery to not vote on Gandle to have a chance.

I don't think telling the Goon would've helped evil. Town was convinced he was evil by the end. He also didn't vote on the Demon in final 3, so that wasn't a hinderance either. (Voting to tie would've panicked town and they would've 100% dropped hands.)
