Sony a99 review - a serious bit of kit, for serious snappers, but is it seriously impressive? Because like it's little brother the a77, it has to be
Is Sony's latest and greatest SLT (don't cal it a DSLR, because technically it's not, no matter how much it looks exactly like one ;) ) up to the task of kicking a few "canikon" teeth in? Lets find out what the Sony Alpha SLT-A99 can do

After watching your Video on the a99 I bit the bullet and picked it up today and love the camera and a great upgrade over my Sony a58. I am so happy with this camera and your camera helped me decide on the a99.

thanks for the great review! getting my first DSLR- trying to decide between canon 5d mark iii and teh a99- mostly for videography- and some photography- which would you choose- I understand teh mark ii has superior low light performance and has fixed moire/aliasing issues- but love 1080p 60fps, focus peaking etc- any lenses work with the a99 other than sony and zeiss that can still ustilize the dual autofocus in movies? thank you

Hi! Awesome review of the A77 & A99! I have 6 trips next year, 3 for leisure, 3 for work. All my holidays will be to the snow in New Zealand, Tokyo & Canada. I then have 3 work trips, all in cities (NY, Vegas, LA, San Fran, HK, London, Paris, Guangzhou). Which camera would you choose out of the A77/A99? Considering the night city shots and the blatant over-exposure that comes with any snowy environment... If you can help it would be truly appreciated!! Otherwise, keep up with the reviews!!

Great review man. I have a question... Can you do in-camera panoramas by holding the camera vertically, or it only works when you hold it horizontally? If it can do verticals too, it would make an awesome camera for real estate shots. Thanks

Great video! Were you able to find something in the menu that allowed you to switch from 50p to 60p? I know they were able to do that on the early test versions of the cameras but seem people think that's been disabled for the final release.

Wow Blunty I really enjoyed your review. Much better than any professional review from CNET or something like it. I currently use a 5D III but find this camera very intriguing for that EVF. Just out of curiosity though how many stops do you lose with the translucent mirror in your estimation? Also are you mainly a video guy? Lastly is this cameras sensor identical to the Nikon D600? Thanks

Hey Sir, I love your reviews. I have a question and hope you are able to answer it. I am looking forward to buy this camera but got one problem. I am from Germany, but living in america right now. I saw that the "german" version offers 50p nad 60p. How is it about the US version. online store talks only about 60p, but the manual says both again. Do you know?

Nice review and though a bit quick on the speech I understood most of it. I have the A900 with the ZA 135 and I WAS tempted to buy the A99. However, I decided it doesn't offer enough that’s distinctively different from what I can do now. I’m not really into the video aspect so I’ll be looking more closely at the RX1. At least its clearly a different tool with full-frame and that will be something that is more useful for traveling.

I really appreciate to see such a well spoken person such as yourself rate this camera. I'm been shooting with Sony since 2007. Started with alpha 200, sold it to 350, sold it to 77. Along with that I bought the alpha 900 then bought a third, the alpha 850. All along I've been sort of defending the brand versus others when ever I ran into other photographers. I sold my 850 and waiting to purchase the a99 before my next wedding.

That's the problem... I've seen both your reviews (loved them) and others... I really like both, dying to get a full frame and BIG fan for Sony (plus lets me use the 20+ Minolta/Sigma/Tamron lenses I have) but price difference comes into play.... Might get my hands on a used a77 now and wait for the 36mp (or higher according to rumors) a99s that is supposed to come out toward the end of the year....
