So I’ve recently released my 3rd animated short film Tasteful, and I thought I’d make a video showing all the steps behind making an 3D animated short film, from start to finish and explain them as simply as I can, so that even if you’re not from the animation or visual effects industry you’ll get an idea of what it takes to make an animated movie.

The collaboration between the creation of the film and the music has always left me baffled. I work in the industry as a 3D-Modeler, Supervisor and I do understand the creative process in the pre-production, I love writing ideas, stories etc. myself. But the ongoing collaboration of film & music throughout the production is somewhat magical to me. I would be interested in knowing how this interlocks on a daily base and how you go on it in the creative process.

Don't make Disney your final goal because their process can change any time. Instead, master animation. You may find your self leading your own animation studio or if you get the luck of working at disney, you will do great job. Good luck.

Not neseccary...as a theater artist, I had to take a scene from a play and direct it...I had to create a storyboard, and you don't need to be an artist or professional drawer. as long as you draw your idea down, then when you share it with others they will at least have an idea. That is the reason for a board. But to be professional drawer, is not important. Because you will continue to articulate your thoughts with the other designers. But as a writer or director, no need to draw, just to jot down your intention on paper to showcase it.

Get blender to get started with animation in 3d. You can also make character rigs in blender and experiment with many features. Blender is an open source program used by many animators. It is completely FREE.
