An animated parable that deals with a familiar subject in an amusing way. We join in the business ventures of J.B. Edwards, an easterner who went west to create a fuel company called Consolidated Dragons. The company's profits were sorely affected when the supply of dragons started to dry up. A solution had to be found--and was.

This was the first film I worked on. It was done by Credo Group who went on to notoriety with their "Cat Came Back" short which has much of the same artistic styling. It was done during the energy crisis of the 1970s - oil issues are not a new problem - as a tongue-in-cheek solution. It was a small crew and a fun environment to work and learn. I'm happy to see the NFB putting this out there for posterity.

At least unlike *some* companies, Edwards went for an alternative energy source instead of trying to make everyone think the problems with his company's original model didn't exist so he could milk it for all it's worth, then only admit to lying after he's destroyed the planet. Or maybe leave his sucker of a company successor to do that for him, I guess.

I love the design of the all the dragons.When people think of dragon they imagine furocious winged reptiles with sharp teeth or jagged scales.but in here they look kinda....Dinky and almost weak and docile.they remind of kamata-Kun from shin Godzilla🙂

But then the locals complained that the wind turbines ruined their view, killed too many birds and annoyed the cows with 'infrasound', so they all died of cold and starvation waiting for fusion reactor technology to develop.
