When I was kid, my dad had a blown 392 sitting in a Speedway Motors t bucket. Imagine riding in a go cart with this motor and about 50lbs of fiberglass to protect you. To top it off it had a beer keg gas tank as a rear bumper.

Incredible engine!!! Tons of power & Torque... Longest stroking Chrysler V-8 made... Massive torque was the result....
@ericheine24143 жыл бұрын
A friend of mine had a 392 in a Stevens hull, with Caselli V-drive. I put my foot in there and I left it. The boat just kept coming on, until it was leaping off the surface of the water. I backed out of it real slowly. 2X4 cross ram, Hunt Magneto, the only thing I can compare it to is a 427 side oiler In a Sanger hull 2X4 tunnel ram. 106 mph- for sure. Brutal.

My first experience with noticing a car was when Dad bought a 1959 Dodge Sierra Spectator D500. Red and white, with a/c in the front and the back! As it turned out, I developed a love for long roofs because of it. My first HEMI experience came when I had the fortune of buying a 392 out of a 58 Imperial, along with the transmission and rear end assembly. It ran well [car was totaled from the rear] and was complete. With lots of help, that combination found its way into a 34 Vicky. Spent a couple years putting it together, never did get it painted. Owned it for 8 years. Sure do wish I'd kept it. Nice job on your engine. How did the EFI work? No such animal back in the 60s...that was practical. The MOPAR unit was unobtanium and didn't work well, anyhow...

You know, Dominic, the sound of a hot rod engine is something I’ve loved over all of my 73 years. I grew up building cars way back in the day when there weren’t a whole lot of commercially available parts … we built them. And, if this were 1958 there wouldn’t be much of an issue. Back then few families had more than one vehicle. But there are too many of us on this planet in 2022 and far, far too many cars. The climate crisis isn’t a joke, Dominic and denying it is not particularly rational. I don’t think the electric car is a solution at all. The answer is far fewer vehicles and far more public transportation, and then maybe we could all appreciate the odd beautiful 1958 blown hemi.
@paytonputteet4446 Жыл бұрын
@@dougthomson5544 the “less cars, more public transportation” comment is as irrational as the electric cars comment for people who don’t live in the city. There is no public transportation for someone who lives in the country and drives an hour plus to work or the grocery store
@dougthomson5544 Жыл бұрын
@@paytonputteet4446 Ah, Payton, you’ve got to get back to school young man - comprehension is an important skill. I didn’t say, “… no cars,” nor did I say, “… less cars,” (the dune buggy I built when a kid was “less” than the original car - look up the difference between fewer and less). I said, “… fewer cars.” Now think about that Payton, review what I said and think again.

@@Anonymous_Music The word “Blown” of course is slang for “Supercharged” and this video is only of the engine break-in process.There was a small vacuum leak affecting the idle- that has long been fixed. It’s since been properly tuned and found a home in an old school ‘34 Ford. We appreciate the compliment! The look of the engine was inspired by the vintage dragster named “Vagabond.”
