Күн бұрынMany will have heard of the Bristol Hercules engine... a 14 cylinder radial of 37.8 litres using a sleeve valve design instead of the poppet valves like the Rolls Royce Merlin and todays modern engines.
With a big thank you to Andy Ward for the 3D printed cutaway of one cylinder and its sleeve valve, here we can see the sleeve in operation.

No, the sleeve valve design is a four stroke however because the cylinder is a moving item with specially placed holes that cover and uncover two stroke like ports .
