Alright, so this is one of my favorite microphones I own. The Blue baby bottle SL is an XLR microphone that has a full capsule on it, and it just sounds awesome. The microphone can get a little bit sibilant at times but that is nothing that can't be worked with in editing.
For people that want to do any sort of narration or audio books/voiceover they will really like the proximity effect on this thing because it has a great one. For those that don't like the proximity effect the 100 Hertz high pass filter works wonders to keep the low frequencies out, especially if you're going to be using this for singing.
This microphone has more of a vintage sound to it which I really love. This is more of a stylized microphone, so it does have its own unique sound. If you're looking for a microphone with a flat frequency response to really learn how to edit sound, I would probably go with something more like a RODE NT1 or Se Electronics 2200 because this has a little bit of added flare which I really like in microphones when it's done right like Blue did with this one.
When I hear this microphone on my guitar, I think it sounds great especially when you use the high pass filter to get out some of those lower frequencies and turn on the 20dB pad because this is a hot microphone and you do not want to overdrive the capsule. I think this microphone would be great if you're going to be using it for acoustic guitar or any sort of acoustic instrument because as a very bright natural vintage sound.
