When I see the microphone coming in a box like that. It Just screams premium. I think blue microphones are known for the Blue Yeti and the Blue Snowball typically that's what most people use. do you think blue microphones are as good or better then the Shure sm7b or Electro Voice re20 which are two microphones that are huge Highly in Studios across the world?

trever pitts you're comparing apples with oranges. The sm7b and the Re20 are both dynamic mics, the Spark is a condenser and requires phantom power. The Spark is a lot more sensitive and will sound brighter than your typical dynamic, which will need a lot more gain to work properly. So if you have a crappy preamp, the Spark will probably be a better choice for voiceover or vocals etc.

I noticed something funny with your channel, at least on mobile when I view the Home page for it I just see “this channel has no content” but when I click on videos then I can see all your videos, not sure if it was always like that but might be helpful to you mate

damn i have the Rode NT USB too and got the Blue, not sure if I should keep it since the Rode NT sounds more than great enough

Yeah. There isn't such a difference in the sound of the two to say one is better. I just like freeing up a usb port 🤣

I just brought the Blue spark blackout. i just wanted to upgrade from AT2020. i never heard of this until the lady at guitar center told me about it. i brought and now looking at the reviews. i haven't even open the box yet.

Can I use an XLR to USB connection for this microphone or do I need an interface?

You do need phantom power for it. So unless the adapter has that built in I don't think you can. But I've never tried it so I could be wrong.

So I got this mic, and a Neewer 48 V interface. I have everything plugged in (USB) in to my HP laptop (Windows 11) and I am struggling to work it. I did a "mic test" and it was perfect but I'm not able to hear myself through the mic when I record video. Oh, also downloaded Blue software (not at home so don't remember the name) but still to no avail. Please help!!

Try messing with prefences on your settings for whatever software your mic is connected too. Sometimes it takes a few tweaks and double checking everything is well connected and setup properly

I think there is actually some of the older ones don't have the high pass filter

Don't pretend looks aren't a factor at least a little. I'm not doing any professional recording and it's a good mic for the price. And if there are two pieces of equipment that are equal in every way but looks, you'd choose the one that looks better to you too.
