Fun fact: guy behind this game also did Illbleed for the Dreamcast. Sadly he passed away some time ago.

I didn't like Illbleed either. Not a knock on the guy, but his games were just...not great.

This game is part of the reason why I would want there to be a SEGA Dreamcast Mini.

The JP 'cinematic camera' angles would make this game nearly impossible to play. I'm glad it was fixed for the US version

A lot to unpack with this one. Where to start. 1. The camera in the Japanese version is that obnoxious fixed perspective that seemed to do what it wanted. At least the American version had a 3rd person camera. 2. Dialog is all over place sometimes skipping over it's self. Especially the "check the corpse" sequence. 3. Text changes. Two Hundred Kilometers in the Japanese version changed to 400km in the American version. 4. Translations/Localization issues. A magazine of arrows? Magazines are for firearms. I think quiver was the proper word. Also I've never heard "enciphered" used. Unless they meant encrypted.

"3. Text changes. Two Hundred Kilometers in the Japanese version changed to 400km in the American version." I never understood this either like why change so much of the story that's already in english, unless for typo/grammar correcting only.

5. "Sega Presents" text is now replaced by "Activision Presents" text in American version

I own both versions of the game. The North American release is better but most people bs and claim the Japanese version is better. The camera angles in the Japanese version are disgusting and nothing like Resident Evil which some have compared it to. The camera angles zoom out which never happened in Resident Evil. The North American camera angle isn't perfect because you see the top of eliot's head often but it's still better. Sure some people claim the suspense is lost but I don't think this game was ever overly scary. I think it's more of a horror comedy similar to that of Dead Rising. I also know that the creator of Blue Stinger and illbleed passed away a long time ago. Almost two decades ago now and he personally hated that Activision changed the camera. I disagree with his views and I'm glad that Activision changed the Camera.

I hope that someone in the scene makes the translation of the Japanese version. Ok, the game is playable even without a proper translation, but it could be much better with a full English translation. I prefer the Japanese exotic and cinematic camera angles than the "generic" third person camera. Both have issues, but the Japanese is the original: the stage designs were built around them and even most puzzles were too. The US/Europe camera shows more of the engine limitations and is terrible in very small, narrow corridors. The perfect option would be if Activision let you choose between the two cameras, but... I awaiting for a full translation of Japanese version! I really love this game (and Illbleed too!).
