I'm really digging the direction of this new channel and how it's playing out. It really showcases the personalities in the tree work industry. It keeps it "fresh", that's an old 80's term for all you youngsters out there. Thanks for sharing Jake and thanks for the long videos. Nothing worse than getting into a video and then poof, it's over. Take care fella!

I am enjoying watching a new generation of Arborists using the latest technology, tools, gear, and knowledge. Taking tree work to a new level. Sure helps having the internet for getting what you are doing to all of us out there. Am 72, became a licensed Arborist in Ct. back in 1981. Mostly Consult these days, and Tree Warden in my town. In the Ct Statutes outlining the duties of a Tree Warden, the one I am really fond of is “responsible for roadside beauty.” Can’t beat that for part of your job description.

I run a old MS460 that has a big bore 54mm kit on it and it does pretty well. Its a hand-me-down saw that was owned by my father who rebuilt it. It was given to him by an old Korean war vet who actually was the one who taught my dad how to fall and cut trees (when he moved to my state before I was born our house had a wood fireplace and he would buy cords of wood prior to him meeting the family friend.) The family friend passed away at age 88. He was slinging around a old 088 until he was 80 or so. I will always treasure this saw.

Keep in mind, Gents. Apples to Apples. To look at efficiency and speed, you'd need to have the same bar, same chain, and ... same RPM ... for each saw, to have a direct comparison. 90 cc can pull more teeth through a piece of wood, but 75 cc could do it faster, if the RPM's were higher. Sorry, I'm a science guy. Thanks for the video, though. Nice to meet ya, Mitch!
@bairfamilyfarm1336
@bairfamilyfarm1336 2 жыл бұрын
Low end torque is a bigger factor than rpm. A slower saw with more low end torque will cut faster than a fast saw with little low end torque. Once that sharp chain bogs down the saw it doesn’t take much for a high torque motor to recover as where a fast motor with little torque will require backing off and cutting slower.
@tcmits3699

Two interesting points, wonder if a chain saw had a 2 speed trans or gear reduction providing more torque at a lower chain speed, what would be the results? Just food for thought

The main thing that you get from the Farmertec/Holzfforma products is inconsistency, which is likely because they skimp on quality assurance as a way to drop the price point. So some people say they're great and some people say they're junk because that's what their individual unit was like. But because they're completely compatible clones, you can swap OEM or other aftermarket parts on to them, and some choice replacements with OEM can make all the difference. In particular, the aftermarket carbs are really hit-or-miss, so replacing it with an OEM can make a world of difference and the saw will still be a great deal.

Which is exactly why NO ONE should send this company, or any other thieving intellectually deprived China company a dime. Stihl products are designed by some of the best engineers and designers in the world for the industry. These nasty chinese just re-label the product and use junk materials to build it. At 58 and 138 lbs .my 661 all day gets to my little hips and shoulder . The suspension in 462 is incredible . As for the blue boys ,put oem chain tensioner , better spikes . And if carb needs adjusting a lot . Buy the walbro or tillotson real carb for it and you should not have any issues . Can’t say it’s as good as stihl or husky , but price wise , with new carb and tensioner . For weekend guy it’s no brainer .its literally a third of the price from real. But it’s not quite a real one .

I built one of their 660 kit saws last year. Also upgraded to their big bore kit. Big box of parts with no instructions. And no labels on parts or hardware. Lot of fun and some frustration. Couple of issue's. Had to replace a few parts right off the bat before running. The carb was junk. No amount of tuning helped. Replaced with a stock 660 carb. Few other small parts got replaced. Run's strong. Seems reasonable reliable. Leaks a little gas and oil. I'm sure I'll blow it up or break something sooner or later. But stihl fun to build.

I would buy one in an instant, but with shipping, customs and taxes the blue 660 is about $200 cheaper than the 661. No (useable) warranty, no service - not worth it imo. But if you have a retailer that saves you the customs and shipping and the 661 is not as cheap as around here...

It's worth noting that the Chinese make everything. This includes many (or all) of the OEM parts for the name brands. The Chinese don't make crap, they make the best stuff in the world, the worst stuff in the world, and everything in between. It's just that the nice stuff is rebranded with some name brand company and the crap is left with the Chinese branding.

Can anyone tell me why timber fellers out West seem to leave such a high stump? Is it because the mill doesn't want the end with butt swell?
