The usp part is the thing that powers and transports the sound to your laptoo so you dont need the aux if you are just using it for gaming streaming etc

Folks, this is a USB microphone which means it is bus powered AND sends audio via USB as well. You don't need the 1/8" trs cable to record and as a matter of fact, is typically used to monitor the microphone via headphones. Once the drivers are installed (on windows typically via Blue's website), windows will recognize it as an audio input device.

@@76Kritical No. That is intended for real-time monitoring of the mic's output with headphones so there is none of the delay that might happen if you plugged the headphones into the computer. But using the headphone socket is totally optional.

You can use audio over USB but it sounds like ass. Using the 3.5 mm output into the computer sounds 10x better.

@@AndrewHelgeCox Its intended for real time monitoring with headphones or if you are going to use this mic with anything other than a computer. I use one with my camera via the 3.5mm output. I also noticed if you use the 3.5 mm into the computer it sounds 10x better than audio over USB.

Hi Juan: Thanks for all the information, it was very helpful. But I'm confused about some other things which pertain to recording for You Tube and webinars. Some people mention a USB style capture card and others mention a Zoom H4n recorder. Are these two things really necessary? Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

No they are not necessary. You can record audio if needed right on your computer. Or if you don't need to record audio and you are just doing zoom calls for example, you still don't need the other devices.

Hello! i bought this mic a while ago and it works perfectly on my pc with windows 10 however, on my other pc with windows 7, it keeps connecting and disconnecting when it is plugged in. a message pops up that says the device is missing hardware id. Can anyone help me?

Hello, I recently purchased the Blackout Edition. I watched your video twice. But I must be doing something wrong. I use a Logetic Webcam Pro (which has its own build in mic). I used the cardioid setting, but when I plugged in wireless headphones into the Blue Yeti, I could not get any sound to record. But when I took that out and used a regular headset(but not the mic) then I got sound, so I'm puzzled and would appreciate any help. Thanks, Leonard

It does not have an on or off switch. You unplug the power source when you are done.

You will to do that when the gain wheel is. Just play with it a little till you find a setting you like.

"Jesus is better" - love it. Thanks for your comprehensive review. I really wanted to see how well it picks your voice from a slight distance. I dislike the idea of "kissing" the mic, and I intend to be about 2-3 feet away from the mic so your distance confirms that the Blue Yeti does pick your voice quite clearly even about 2 feet away. Thanks for that! Just to clarify, your M50 takes your video, while the Blue Yeti takes your audio, correct?

Great explanation bro seeing the features on this mic, I think I must get it, I am a gamer, I upload tutorial videos on youtube and I stream on twitch, I think it will help improve my audio big time even though I am not yet getting paid from youtube or twitch, I think I must get this, I been thinking about it for long, only thing what stop me from buying this mic is the price it is little bit expensive. But the sound quality seems topclass!

Great vid, did my comment get deleted? Maybe due to links being posted? Anyway, I thought it was great that you showed the testing of the sound and the different options this holds. I wanted to let everyone know that they should most definitely grab the G-Hub software for this mic to go above and beyond. Sound samples, create macros and more! I would have done a lot more with this review, but that's me. Over 10 BlueVoice Presets, 15+ Effects, total customization with your EQ and signal cleanup like Gate, compressor, de-popper to name a few. Desktop profile for your ULTIMATE gaming experience with add-ins like, Air Raid, Enchanted Sands and Expression from human voices, Bye bye, Hooray and more.
