My new album is out! It's not generic garbage, trust me: distrokid.com/...
I test out the Blue Yeti radius shock mount by recording drums, vocals, etc. with and without the shockmount and compare the recordings.

Your trick to transfer the rubber grommets in place of the plastic washers to use on the thumb-tightener on the stand mount was a GREAT tip! Nothing to buy, just swap them from the desktop mount. Thanks.

C-Threep Seriously though, I have been considering buying a Blue Yeti for a while now and I was always going to buy a desktop boom and shock mount. Today while looking for the shock mount I found that the Blue Radius is virtually the only one available for the Yeti, and the TERRIBLE reviews it received regarding the tensioner bolt was driving me toward the AT2020. That trick with the rubber washers has changed my mind. Thanks so much.

Good question, I use Adobe Audition and LOVE it but it has a few limitations (like not metronome feature and no MIDI support, weird). I wish I could say I knew more about Sony Acid, but for $35 it's not such a bad deal for its capabilities.

Thank you very much! I was skeptical about buying that shock mount 'cause of all the reviews about it, but glad I know there's an easy fix!
@cThreep
@cThreep 9 жыл бұрын
Sure thing! Even with the simple fix to keep the mount from slipping, I'd still advise you to not over tighten it, as that can still lead the wearing out the threads on the screws.

All of your videos are so helpful, I'm glad I found your channel! I've been thinking about getting the shock mount, and although I could hear the difference, I'm not sure I heard $70 worth of difference (for me personally). So so far you have saved me $100, $70 on the shock mount and $30 on a pop filter, as I now have my very own pantyhose and coat hanger version! Thanks for the videos and keep it up :)

If the mic is far away from you and you put the gain setting all the way up then yes, it will probably pick up the sound of your computer's fans. But if you position the mic closer to your mouth and put the gain setting lower you may not have to deal with all the extra noise :)

Bravo for the gasket tip alone. I had already owned this thing and I was very angry that it wouldnt stay put. Id also like to add another issue with this shock mount. By default you cannot attach the mic and get both the usb and headphone jack in because of the mic mount, but if you just take out the center piece and tune it 90 degrees everything works great.

You know, I think any recording software I run on my computer will have latency issues. I have always had to deal with it and have gotten used to it but I think those issues usually arise from having a cheap sound card. I have windows 7 and installed a free sound driver called ASIO and it helps a lot with latency, but yeah, I don't think it's usually a recording software thing. And I have version 5.5 of Audition but got it cheap because a bro-in-law of mine works there.
