I don't know about other people, but I love that you always talk about the fundamentals. I've watched your videos a hundred times, and I still need to hear it. It takes me forever to learn this kind of thing (because I'm lazy and I just want to get to the having fun part) and your videos keep me motivated to keep going to learn all the chord shapes, arpeggios and scales as they relate to the CAGED mapping. I'm making progress with the chords and when I get that I'll start working on the arpeggios. Once I get that I'll start learning the scales (I already know the major scale up and down the neck, but I don't know what the degrees of the scale are, just the pattern). So when you keep hammering the fundamentals I always pick up another puzzle piece. Your channel and Homeskoolin are helping me get there.

After watching some of your videos here on KZfaq, I learned the approach to visualise the chords while improvising and not focus on scales. I have played for 30+ years, but I never learned this way of thinking. Before I was thinking keys and scales, but with this approach my improvising feels more melodic. Thank you Guthrie Trapp! 🎸

And I hate to keep beating a dead horse (which actually sounds cruel, doesn't it?) but I have really been enjoying the True Fire lessons that you have created! Guthrie…I so appreciate your videos and your playing has helped me immensely and provided hours of enjoyment. You play two runs (at ~0:52 and 1:15) and I’m curious what your are ‘thinking’ when you run it. At first blush it sounds like straight up ‘Emaj pentatonic’ then ‘Emin pentatonic’ noodling in both runs. But I am curious if you might be also be thinking “outline A7’ then outline ‘Gmajor’ then back to Emajor…functionally the same but i am curious what a pro is thinking when playing
