I absolutely love that song! I was a teenager in the early 80's when I stumbled upon Gatemouth Brown in my journey of discovering the blues.

Absolutely essential song! Personal sidenote, I've had the honor to play this song a handful with Gate's former sax player/musical director Eric Demmer. We'll often harmonize the entire head.

I've made it to half assed effort...30 times. let me tell you, wow. this is teaching me so much. better to listen to you and Gatemouth 60 times, then to make my mistakes 1000 times. lovely. who knew all this time I was working so hard and in such an insufficient way?! lol

I used to have ( Homespun Tapes ) Gatemouth Brown lesson tapes back in the 80s and a couple of his albums I bought at Cheapo Records in Central Sq Cambridge. Interesting derivative player! Fingers, capo, and his own natural blues and big band style.And that guitar! It was like a Mustang? It I really don't know what it was. Great blues piece! I thought you had covered it in an earlier video tutorial but couldn't find it. Glad your covering it.

Hi Tomo first of all I would like to thank you for all you videos you put on and most of all for sharing your knowledge through your guitar wisdom course which i have had for a few month now , I recommend this to anyone watching . Sorry to contact you though Utube but i am struggling to get a reply from your help section in my guitar wisdom course , I would like to just suspend it for a while so that I can really take in and practice what you have taught me so far ,but when I go into manage my subscription all I get is a black blank page hope you can advise me on this problem , just wondered if you had another link I could use. Loved this lesson and the song...The phrasing feels like a conversation of the player...Not a pentatonic excercise!
