Honestly the fact the Neon was born from a failed Tomo lesson should tell every guitarist how incredible Tomo is as a teacher and musician.

The story of how Neon was made literally blew my mind. John couldn't do something so he made a harder version which only he can do 100% properly.

Great thing about that chord at 7:04 is that John Petrucci uses that to transition in a dream theater song, "Metropolis Part 1". He uses that chord to add feeling in other songs on later albums, but the way he uses F sharp to kind of transition into different sections is inspiring when you hear it.

I took a Skype lesson with Tomo a few years back. It went way over my head, but he told me to learn my triads, so I did! Guitar is more fun now :D

Dang it! I was in Boston the first week of August, and I almost made it to the Guitar Center near Berklee, when I realized I'd forgotten my bag at Fenway Park (did the tour). I wonder, if I hadn't forgotten my bag, if I might have caught you guys there. It would've been really awesome to have eavesdropped on your lesson with Tomo. Thanks for sharing!
