This game was really cool! I love how different it is with the machine gun on Sonic's head! I wish all the games I play had that feature and it would make my life a lot easier!

Luigi can jump on things and has a literal ghostbuster vacuum. But Tails has lots of smarts and can fly.... It's both. My favorite is both.

This actually sounds like a great baseline for a creepypasta. Random player finds this version of the original Sonic where all the enemies run from him, the player laughs at it for a few minutes, but the game slowly turns into darker undertones and by the end it's revealed to the player the nefarious reasons WHY everyone is running from Sonic rather than attempting to fight him. [Of course, knowing creepypasta authors, the twist will be something completely lame like "yOU wAZ cONTROLLING sONIC.eXE tHE wHOLE tImE wHAAAAAAATTTTT!??!!?" But there's room to make a GOOD twist work there.] As for the actual hack, the highlight for me HAS to be the FISH running away from you. That's so wonderfully silly.

Controversial spicy hot take: the _best_ sidekick, _including in 16 bit gaming,_ is Commander Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation. He is an android. Of course one could argue that he has his own sidekick, Spot, a based and feline-supplement-pilled cat who does not give a flying Ferengi about jumping up on her “owner’s” computer console and bringing him as close to annoyance as is possible for a being without emotions. And, although she is not sentient, and does not comprehend, he nonetheless considers her a true and valued friend 😻

The Badniks are all like, “Cheese it! It’s the fuzz!” and “I ain’t goin’ back to prison!” Between Tails and Luigi, I like Luigi more, but I don’t really like either of them that much.

Eggman did only not destroy any blocks, but he didn't even come down at all XD

From what I've seen from Sonic romhacks, if you destroy the end of Zone animal capsule through any means other than the way you do in the base game, the game gets softlocked, because I believe pressing the button on the animal capsule is the trigger to let the game know to end the level. Which is likely why you can't shoot the capsule open in this hack, it'd softlock you. Those "triggers" that let the game know you did something already, are known as "flags". Basically "flags" are the game checking off a checklist to have the game keep track of what you've already done on that game. This is most common in RPGs, to let the game know where you are in the story and to not halt your progress by the game thinking you have not triggered the flag to tell itself "hey, you're at this part of the story! I should update the entities on the map and text to reflect your progress". Here's a really well-known example, for flags in gaming. Say, the player has started a new save file in a Pokemon game. Once they pick their starter for their adventure, a flag is checked to let the game know to not let the player claim any of the other two starters they did not pick. As the game knows the player has already made their decision on which of the three to take and therefore should not be allowed to claim the other two. I may not know how to code things, but I do have a rather simple understanding on what goes in the background in the code of videogames while a player is playing them

Luigi vs Tails, that’s a tough one. I have to pick Luigi though. Even without Mario he has proven himself to be a hero a lot of times. And he’s always so polite and calm.

Since luigi is just mario with a personality, I gotta vote tails for the better sidekick. Also police squad is what I think the siren is referencing, but I'm not surprised it's not as well known since it only lasted a few episodes before getting canceled, still surprisingly funny stuff though!
