*"battery conditioning"* I think is the technical term but yeah truly an amazing piece of equipment and now getting very near the point of in fact being grid scale electric storage if inclusive with proper software where say 10,000 of these could be linked up together upon a proprietary communication system to create said *"virtual power plant."* Does it have wireless charging? Cigarette lighter adapter needs to made using proper material metal connectivity given well known lack of surge protection issue. Be nice if it came with a cigarette lighter too in point of fact.

We are edging slowly to my dream of having devices like these becoming just normal part of the build of a house. Just like you buy an HVAC system and a Hot Water heater, you would buy a "power system" that can act as a whole house UPS and Plug in ready Solar system (in case you don't have solar yet). This is an exciting time in Solar! THANKS TOM!!

I have a power pole outside my building it goes to my barn and the power company wanted to just charge me $40 a month before I even bought power that's almost five or $480 a year and I was like screw that I live in a tiny house I need 1.2 KW but I have to pay $480 just to get access to the power a year nope these videos give me hope also and if I need some extra power there's always a generator and I guarantee you I won't use $480 worth of gas a year using it

It will be a terrible thing for the environment if everyone needs something like this. Imagine all the toxic waste from the mines and batteries. FAR WORSE than running a few coal plants.

@@shaunnightfire8269 I disagree. These "end point storage" solutions will be a benefit because it will allow us to adopt renewables faster since we won't need as much expensive grid scale storage. As to the batteries themselves, their composition will change over time to be more environmentally friendly (Sodium, Graphene .. etc.) so I am not as worried about that.

@@jonjohns8145 The large scale lead acid batteries are far better for the environment than thousands of end users having a bunch of lithium batteries. The grid batteries are expensive, but they last long and a better utilized when properly load balanced. Its like the difference between powering your car with one large lead acid battery or 100 lithium aa batteries for every motor light and gizmo in your car. As for adapting renewables for primary grid power, every attempt has been a disaster. Wind, solar, and even that salt water mirror thing in the desert have underperformed and have caused other secondary issues like waste disposal and wildlife impacts that are worse than using conventional sources like coal.

I have been watching the Solar Generator wars for some time. I have the technical capabilities to build a custom system, but the innovation between competitors is making me rethink a custom system. The big question becomes when to pull the trigger because we all know an AC10000 is just around the corner. Keep up the great work Hobotech.

I'm wondering if there won't be a relaunch of the EB500, which now looks something of an odd-one-out in the range. Perhaps something that better fits the "visual language" of this range, with this inverter (or better!), 5-7.5kw of onboard storage and support for the modular batteries. Wouldn't mind a mild update to the AC200Max, too. Maybe 2500w inverter, a UPS and three battery ports? I'm saving for one of them, so an improved one with early bird discount would be well-timed in the next couple of months.

This is all backwards compatible so that's why you can buy these right now...especially the now far more valuable previous Model which again...works perfectly fine with the current system apparently and I imagine vice versa.

@@jtnoodle - Yeah, everyone has different needs but wheels aren’t much of a deal breaker for me, seeing how there are a ton of DIY wheel options I could easily add/build with off-the-shelf parts from a local home center store. However, there really aren’t any easy DIY solutions for re-doing that horrible power cable connection design, unfortunately.

Hey there City proper I saw both yours and hobos videos on the background and I'm getting ready to buy one like next week or the week after but I appreciate both your videos it really made a choice and the price was right so freaking that's what I'm getting and hopefully somebody please let us know when they're going to put those expandable batteries on those things I only need 1.2 kilowatts a day but it'd be nice to have 5 kilowatts a day

I just bought the AC500/B300s last week and your coupon code still works (thanks). I love that it's "plug and play." Several years ago I built a 1500 watt off grid system back when lead acid batteries were the only way to do. I had to go through a checklist just to turn it on/off; turn on Heavy Duty DC switches to connect all the batteries together, turn on circuit breaker 1 to power up the charge controllers, then circuit breakers 2 and 3 to connect them to the solar panels, then turn on Heavy Duty DC switch to connect the Battery Bank to the Inverter. Once everything was running I had to keep an eye on the charge controller meter for when the battery bank was down to 50%. Now, with the AC500, I just plugged in the solar panels and turned it on. It stays on all the time now and I occasionally check it through the app on my ipad.

I got an email yesterday that they had begun shipping to the early contributors. This appears to have been a wildly successful pre-launch. What I found shocking was they also let us add on the PS70 Units for only $99 (500w/720wh). With no limit on how many you can buy. That seems incredibly cheap, at 20 cents/watt, so I loaded the wagon with those as they make great bedside power backups and gifts in general.

This will be a God Send for here in Texas during hurricane season. Sometimes we get many hours of rain after the electricity is out during a storm, and this can be used inside out of the rain. If you ever cranked on a generator during a hurricane, you would see the value. One day I will be able to afford one.

Thank you for your continued humorous and most informative videos. You almost had me choking on my tea when you were talking about the DIYers!🤣. That's exactly how one of my family members sound! I am no DIYer, nor do i have any desire to be one at my age. Thanks to your reviews and discount coupon, I purchased the Bluetti AC200MAX with (2) 350w portable panels for my Dodge Caravan Camper setup. I have been so happy with it! It runs my microwave, tv, and every other technological creature comfort I have in it. The only thing I regret is buying two of the 350w portable panels. I should have just bought one, and put a 200w (or plus) rigid or flex panel on my roof for continues charge. Also, it's a pain lugging around 60 lbs of portable panels in and out of the van every time I need to charge. Not to mention, all of the unwanted attention I get when I set those monsters out. Lol

Both China and Russia consider the United States their number one enemy, which means the risk of an EMP is higher than ever before. With your current set up, and EMP would fry both the grid and your kit. What this means is that you need to keep your kit shielded with EMP protection, so it will be available as a backup if (when) an EMP does occur.

Excellent video HoboTech! These keep getting better and better :) I tested my computer on the AC500 to see how well UPS mode worked. It works perfectly! No issues with sensitive electronics! Swapped over from wall power right into the inverter!

"Swapped over from wall power right into the inverter!" An EMP will fry both the grid and your kit, if you set it up this way. You need to shield your kit with EMP protection and use it only as a backup, after the grid has already been tried.

I like the cables. If you WANT to be more flexible then you can be. And I've seen setups where two batteries sit sort oft next to each other and the AC300 (in that case) sat atop of them on another shelf. But what I would like to see are shorter cables with 90° angled plugs for the case that you actually want to stack them on top of each other. Doesn't require any sort of redesign of the units, just a new/optional cable.

That's an awesome unit, but I have to agree with the bulky connector cable. Even if they just shorten the cable and put a 90 degree connector on each end would be an improvement I think.

Thanks hobo for the work that you do I live off grid and I only need like 1.25 KW a day to take care of a freezer lights and charging and I'm probably going with the pecron 2000 with the expandable battery pack and but I do like it and I love this Tech this is how we're going to change things is All These Little Things became so much bigger so thanks for your work brother but I'm going with that pecron 2000 that fits my budget but that is a sweet blue Eddie

Can you PLEASE do us all a favor... can we "twist your arm" to get a spreadsheet with all of your comparisons so we can "play" with the values and help us evaluate the different machines before we purchase and/or upgrade. You cover such a wide variety of machines... and a wide variety of "specs" on all the machines... that it would really help us (all of us non-techies" out here) to know what's good and what's not! Professor Hobo. Thanks for the videos! I still find myself torn between this and the EcoFlow Delta Pro. In Florida where hurricanes are always on the menu (but not freezing) - wondering between: -A Bluetti AC500 w/ 2 B300s batteries for just over 6000w OR - A Ecoflow DeltaPro with 1 smart battery for just over 7200w This is for my home in an emergency and not a fulltime setup. Will use folding panels. Any comments/help welcome!

Great video and great product! I do love how it can get over 6,000 Watts of charging. The Ecoflow Delta Pro does this as well. Granted you need the extra battery for it and use on of their multiple options.

@@reaj2010 A standard dryer outlet is 30 amps 240 volts, so 7200 watts. I have a 120v heat pump dryer so the 240v dryer outlet in my laundry room remains open, and someone could always install such an outlet elsewhere if desired, similar to a car charger.

Excellent review and excellent product. The batteries for these units are right on the upper limit of "portable", and the price very much reflects the substantial capabilities, but for anyone wanting an off-the-shelf solution, this is certainly a very good option. I am one of those who strongly prefers a more modular approach for something of this size, meaning the inverter, charger controller(s), and various DC output types are independent and serviceable. I recognize most folks do not want to be bothered with knowing how to DIY any of that stuff and that's why products like this exist.

The batteries for these units are right on the upper limit of "portable" -- The Bluetti website specifies that the battery is portable, provided two people are carrying it.

I think a lot of people prefer the all in one system because the assumption is there will be no surprises in use, compared to different products not always working together well. Then when there is a question, issue, concern, warranty, etc., you now just have one company to deal with without the others fingerpointing.

@@aussie2uGA - I agree, that most people will prefer a commercial, all-in-one system, but that doesn't really make them the best option for many of the larger use cases. If you're building a large system and portability isn't part of the use case, then things like the AC500 really aren't the best way to go about it.

After watching your video on the bluetti AC500. I purchased one. I received it the other day. Looking through the manual. I realized something. Is there a circuit breaker or a fuse for the outlets ?. I do have a portable generator and their are push type breakers. Thanks for your time and effort on these videos. I do appreciate them. I have purchased the following after seeing your videos. Montek carry generator, PowerQueen 190 ah. Bluetti AC500. Keep up the great work.

"But Hobo..." LOL. That is an excellent poke at the KB warriors LOL! I do have two DIY systems, 2400w 100A and a 4800w, 200A system. And I have an older Maxoak 1500w, and an Ecoflow River Pro 720w unit. I like the "modularity" of the DIYs. I can separate batteries as needed. I like the complete turnkey ability of the EF and Bluetti. My goal is to power a fridge, freezer, fans, and a portable AC unit (when needed for rolling blackouts in So Kalifornia, 2022). And of course recharge phones, HAM radios, tablets, and power banks.

I once saw a video of a guy attaching multiple old/used vehicle batteries to his solar generator and wish I remembered where or save the link. But I’ve never seen this option again and no mention it’s possibly when discussing extendability. This review is awesome and this product is far beyond what I currently can afford or need. But I’m definitely interested in plug n play solution but with more flexibility extendability to mainly keep my outdoor yard and safety lights going since they are off grid and wiring is not an option.

Where are you located? What appliances/comforts did you use? Were you recharging via solar? I’m in SWFL. I’ve been trying to soak up Bluetti info and already ordered from their Indiegogo campaign a few days ago. Late to the party!

@@robbielauderdale4143 Around Orlando. I switched my phone to a hot-spot, ran USB lights off of small power banks, used the BLUETTI for my PC and fan in my room, and a FAN in the living room. Plugged in the Refrigerator for 1 hour every 5-6 hours. I don't have any of the add-on batteries yet, but even with the avail 2024w, I only used 25-28% a day.

@@grey_piffle that is fantastic, real use info! Thank you for that. I had people in town who do not do well without their creature comforts and my puny shoplight/battery banks can keep up with only so much of their social media usage. They were not good at all with rationing their own energy consumption. I had to hold some back as they would’ve eaten it all up. Thankfully I had a battery powered shop fan from Harbor Freight that helped give sleeping comfort until they all flew out 2 days later. Some folks are even less equipped to handle a shtf scenario than I am. It’s an eye-opener and I realize I need to get more serious and vigilant with preparations for the next event…or maybe more off-grid living. Thank you again!

@@robbielauderdale4143 I saw a video just yesterday where a guy converted his whole house to BLUETTI and solar. his electric bill went down to less than $40. I do constant searches for BLUETTI to see what people are doing with it.

@@grey_piffle excellent and I’ll keep doing that too! Lots more to learn. Currently I live in a high-rise condo. It was rammed home the precarious nature of multi unit/building living. The generator is only to power emergency circuits, pumps, elevators if they’re even working(probably not due to high water. In our scenario everything failed. Emergency stairwell/building lighting was out and they finally turned off the water pumps a week and a half later. I’ve moved to another location until they repair power up the building, hopefully by the end of the month 😐. Being in a condo, I’m limited with practical solar recharging abilities. Up on the higher floor, I might have the morning to noon hours for direct sun otherwise the sun would be filtered by slider glass and screens which I imagine cuts down quite a bit on available PV power. Perhaps a little windmill constantly, provided there’s a breeze) might supplement the short solar period. Anywho, lots to consider. I did also just buy and receive an EB 70S to play with until the AC500/B300s’s ship in Dec. I ordered a PV200 as well that’ll arrive in a couple of days. It will be interesting to finally get to test things out to see how to best put this stuff to use.

I'm still using a bluetti eb150 from several years ago, to power my off grid cottage in the West of Ireland. I've paired it with an 800w generator for when the weather is particularly bad for several days in a row. The system powers a 12v fridge, vacuum, radio, led lights, phone, laptop and a few battery operated tools. It's so wonderful, but I'm steadily dreaming about a much larger system that will do a lot more for me one day. The technology is very exciting.

One problem with you suggestion to allow these to stack without using cables is that I plan on using this both in my house and my RV. When in my RV it won't be stacked (I've got a 40' 5th wheel and will put it under the stairs). Now if there was an option of stacking without cables, and using cables when you're not stacking them, then I'd be all for that. If it was only a stacked configuration I'd not have purchased the AC500 and 2 B300S's that I'm now waiting on.

Being able to charge the battery units separately via solar is a treat for my small place --- HOA would not let me put up huge solar set-up but I could get away with a couple of panels charging up one battery at a time.

@@GFY11 After living in my current place for 8 years, I have seen too many people try all kinds of goofy stuff with the outside of their units and then get into fights with the HOA because they broke the rules. The HOA is OK by me because we have tiny porch areas and if they allowed solar panels with no rules, lord knows what some of the neighbors would put up.

I as well was pretty excited when I saw the 240/120 volt 30 and 50 amp outlets on the unit for the first time. Too bad they don't function as 240 volt with a single unit. I may just hold off until they can figure that one out

Great review. I wonder how AC500 will perform with a highend audio system. For the sound quality to work, it takes a good quality inverter, and many batter packs use inverters which degrades the sound. I heard Bluetti is better than most in that regard. But, if there is anyone using it with the audio system, it will be great to hear your feedback.

I like having the large clunky connection cables because it gives us options on how to place the batteries and head units. We don't all stack our units neatly due to space constraints. Thank You for the review though, love it and appreciate you!

Thanks so much for the informative video. On the battery capacity tests, I note that there is an option for deep discharge of the battery when it get's to 0%. This implies to me that Bluetti are only making maybe 90% of the capacity available to consumers and hold approx 10% in reserve for emergencies. If that is the case, and we subtract 0.3kwh from the battery capacity, the efficiency is higher than what you have recorded. I'd be interested in seeing just how much capacity Bluetti are holding in reserve on the AC500, how this differs from the AC300 (which may hold less in reserve therefore achieve better efficiency scores), and how that affects your efficiency calculations.

Tempting but that behemoth of a dinosaur power cable, is such a thorn of contention/deal-breaker. I'd be willing to bet, if Bluetti came up with a redesign for the clunky power connection, during the crowd funding... AC500 sales would increase substantially!!

With you 100%. The interlocking pins idea as mentioned in the review would be excellent but even a simple rigid ninety degree connector would be an improvement and should be doable/compatible with the existing AC300.

Great video. I bought one thanks to you. And I'm looking forward to receiving it as they said it was starting to ship after tomorrow. They offered several "perks". One was to buy the Bluetti PS70 units for a mere $99. So I bought several of those too. Any thoughts on that little Solar Battery? That sounds so cheap and there is not limit on them. I know the limited capacity of 500w/720wh is small, but for a bedside backup doesn't $99 seem too good to pass up?

I’m the process of setting up home backup power in Canada. Got a 3300 watt Firman dual fuel inverter generator, will be setting up a manual transfer switch to power critical circuits but really struggling in committing to battery power vendor. EcoFlowC Bluetti, DIY with Victron etc My main objective is to have some backup in case of an outage (rare in my suburb) and recharge the batteries using the generator for now. Eventually will look into setting up solar as alternative source. I keep reading bad reviews on forums with people having to return bricked devices after failed firmware updates, etc.

I own a BLUETTI ac200p and I use it every day it’s a great product however these indigo go campaigns are dicey at the moment. With supply chain issues and China’s economy on the verge of collapse you might want to wait and order when the product is built and shipping. I’m still waiting on a 12v refrigerator I ordered back in June that was suppose to be delivered in July, August at the latest and I’m still waiting. Please understand with everything that’s happening these campaigns are not running that smoothly and you can expect issues.

in addition , when running a thermometric a gas or sometimes even a compressor coolbox the wattage will be increase , for instance i have a thermo coolbox that does 60w on 12v but 80w on 24v making it work way better in summer on higer voltages !!

Great video and review as always. If I bought just the B300S without the main unit to power my Iceco JP50 Pro, any idea if the battery capacity percentage would be better without the main unit? Common sense says it would without the inverter etc.

In my opinion there is very little need to “charge quickly” on solar. If it takes 2 hours to charge on 3000 watts of solar as an example, once battery hits 100% you have 3000 watts of solar potential on your roof doing nothing for a good portion of the day. Either lower the wattage to charge over a full day or put load on it so you are able use what you produce. I have a 550 watt load on my blue tie and 800 watts solar. I start the day at 70% battery and it ends at 70%. This way I compensate for clouds and the lower solar generation in the morning and evening hours and invert loss. Also remember charging from ac power takes a 15 % loss. So solar generation is best if your trying to use it lower your electric bill/usage.

Charging quickly matters if you are using this in a vehicle charging it with folding panels. If you're mobile, it matters!

The problem with the AC 500 is that you have only one inverter. In a grid-down situation, good luck getting that repaired by Bluetti in a timely manner. For the retail price of the AC 500, you could purchase two if not three AC 200 Max inverters , each of which includes a battery. If one of the inverter/battery combo fails, you still have one if not two as backups.

This thing puts out more than my mains junction box! Shame even the earliest bird price (in yen) is getting on for double the AC200MAX, which itself is taking me months to save for. Also a small point of order: Bluetti now has a 450w solar panel on the Indiegogo page for this. Early bird is circa $650, for anybody in the market for one.
