Great review thank you, have just purchased one of these with a 120w solar panel for off grid camping, off for 3 weeks soon it only has to run a camping mini fridge and charge phone, camera and a bike battery, I hope its enough with the solar 👍

Great review! I especially enjoyed the corners! I have 175w solar panel, that has an Optimum Operating Current (Imp) of 8.89A and Optimum Operating Voltage (Vmp) of 19.5V. Will this work with this Bluetti? Or perhaps not as you mentioned 8A max for solar..? Thanks!!!

Does the fan (and noise) only accompany the inverter usage? I'm thinking of running telescope/astrophotography equipment which would be all DC. I wouldn't want to hear a loud fan while under the stars. Thanks for the great review video!!

I purchased an Xtorm XP500 LiFePo4 power station that is very similar in spec to this Bluetti, and i tried to use it at -8.3°C outside (doing astrophotography) and both 12V DC ports stopped delivering power after about 2hrs when the power station cooled down. It was showing -1°C on the display, so i guess it cuts off power at 0°C or below, or the voltage has dropped and it couldn't function any more. The LiFePo4 batteries are supposedly rated to work at a temperature range of -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F), but optimal performance is achieved between 0°C and 45°C, but it doesn't seem so in my case. I will have to do some more testing but i don't think it will work in such low temps. None of these power stations will i think.

I live in South Africa where "load shedding" is a daily thing to power the TV and Router in the bedroom--works great. The only issue is the noise at night. Are there other similar units that are quieter?
@tdcattech
@tdcattech 11 ай бұрын
I've just been reading up on load shedding across South Africa after I read your comment. So are these total blackouts in allocated areas during these times or is it a reduction in usage during certain periods (potentially in an attempt to avoid blackouts)? To answer your question, not really. The EB70 is pretty quiet and all mains inverter / battery combinations will need cooling of some kind for safety so they all make a noise but do vary in how loud cooling is. If you opted for something smaller (less capacity and less inverter output but still enough for a TV and router) you could probably get it silent. You could then charge that smaller battery from a larger one using DC out whilst using it. Lots of wasted power there but it would work.

@@tdcattech Its a total blackout. The grid is switched off completely for the allocated areas, during the allocated timeslots...for example at the time of typing this comment, we are on stage 6 load shedding...we will have no electricity at home this evening from 20h00 to 00h00 in the area where I live.

Since you are now expert with EB70 Power Station, can you please confirm if the generator AC Output of 220-240V can be used to power up the AC Adapter for charging the generator itself. Your kind attention with these matters highly appreciated.

I found this really helpful. As someone else said the instructions are a bit limited. Was a bit concerned when I first powered it up as I wasn’t expecting any noise! I live out in the sticks (in the UK) and we get a lot of power cuts. If they’re of short duration it’s not a problem but my main reason for buying this is because I have a tropical fish tank and if the heater, filtration and air pump are off for any length of time the fish will suffer. I now feel a lot happier with this as backup. Would it make sense to have the fish tank ‘stuff’ permanently plugged in to the Bluetti and for the Bluetti to be permanently plugged into the mains or will that simply wear the Bluetti out, as it were? As you can tell, I’m not remotely technical minded and would appreciate your advice.

Yes, this one isn't designed to operate as a UPS or EPS (uninterruptible power supply) so it shouldn't be plugged in all the time. I'm testing a nice product from Anker at the moment that works perfectly as a UPS and can be left plugged in 24/7 - geni.us/solixc1000 - Alternatively, if all you need is mains backup and you don't need the extra USB outputs, solar charging etc. you could just buy a UPS for this - geni.us/bx1600mi - Something like this would keep things ticking over for a few hours in a power cut.

US (120V) model EB70 inverter is rated at 700W, the EB70S is rated at 800W, the Euro 230V is rated at 1000W. I have EB70 for almost 3 years now. BTW, the unit has phantom power and will drain itself down within about 3 months, so if you are going to put it away you may want to keep en eye on it since it may not have any power left when you try to use it when the emergency happens. The inverter also draws about 15W when it is on without any AC load on, so keep that in mind.

For some reason I wish the input was on the back. I feel its a bit in the way when i want to use the DC output.
@tdcattech
@tdcattech 3 ай бұрын
I sometimes think that manufacturers are missing a trick not putting multiple inputs on these. Due to the frequent use in small spaces (RV, tent, transporter etc.) the best place for them changes. It would be nice to have front and back (with a selector if needed).

@tdcattech

I think it might struggle with the in rush current when the compressor kicks in if you’re talking about a full size home fridge. No problem with the actual power consumption of the fridge but it’s no good if it won’t start. 🙂

No. You need a power supply or solar. That’s quite common with a battery of this size but it would be lovely to have mains in.

I couldn't even run a 49 watt freezer with this thing, it overloaded the unit. I contacted bluetti and after many emails and videos and pictures, they agreed to a return and refund. I then purchased the AC180P, Hope that does better.
@tdcattech
@tdcattech 3 ай бұрын
No doubt the in-rush current of the compressor is too much for the smaller inverter. It’ll happily power 1000W devices but the freezer may demand a few kW (if only for a half a second)
@AussieDJRemixes
@AussieDJRemixes 3 ай бұрын
@tdcattech .... I sat there waiting for it to kick in, 395 watts came up on the display, then dropped to 49 watts. I just couldn't understand why it would overload it considering 395 watts is well below it's said capacity. I've ordered AC180P, fingers crossed this might sort it out. Thanks for your reply 👍
@tdcattech
@tdcattech 3 ай бұрын
It might only display 395W but sometimes, that peak will be considerably higher. If it drops to 49W and it's still on, it should be OK but the next time it fires up, it might not manage it. That's my experience with fridges. You really need something that can handle a surge of 2kW or more.
@AussieDJRemixes

@tdcattech .... the initial plugging it in was ok and turning g on the first time but when it came to coming on the second time it overloads. Disappointing, I ran a small ac 30 watt fridge on it, it went OK, ran for 18 hours.
