Love the setup , I just bought the max and plan on doing exactly the same thing. I do see you have it hooked up via the 120v outlet , I would use the ev 30 outlet right to your switch panel that way you can get an extra 10amps of power if needed. But absolutely love this.

@@OffGridSolarSmartHouse The specs on the B300 says smartphone charges 208+ That's 6+ months of keeping a smartphone running on a single charge of the B300 which itself can be recharged for basically a decade plus. Two simple full charges is all you'd need annually, and we all love our phones; they're damn handy. Even people in the frozen North could recieve enough Sun to manage that. I think it's time we declare smartphones as truly grid-independent (on our side of things, not counting towers, etc) useful daily devices and can't wait til others can make the list as solar technology progresses. I put in the same transfer switch for a gas generator for winter power outage. But now thinking of doing what you did for daily life. Power lights, tv, computer, etc off the Bluetti, and big appliances off the grid. I like the smart plug idea of having it turn on at low peak $ time. For me seems an easier setup with the Bluetti then getting a Charge controller, battery's, inverter and wire it up. I assume if you have a couple days of clouds and no solar charge you just switch the transfer switch to grid power?

During the day when the sun's up you can power all the devices without any issues. When the sun goes down you'll have battery life trouble. Fridge and deep freezer might barely make it over night. The rest of the appliances would have to wait for the sun to come up. Different story if you pair the 200max with more batteries.

MJ, yes I did consider buying a lipo4 battery before I bought my B300. The one thing that discouraged me was 12v would only charge the Ac200Max around 120 watts an hour. I would have to have bought like a 48v or even better 72v battery. To get better charge rate. Another thing is you would have to disconnect the solar input to charge off the battery or use the car port thingy. With the B300 its not charging the Ac200Max it doubles the battery capacity.

Sorry to ask stupid questions: Can you tell me if your system of batteries is able to power a fridge and washing machine run? Also, do you need to run electrial wires paralled to your wires for grid supply to feed sockets where you appliances plugged in? Forgive me I am not an engineer and worse still I am a woman. Given the current high cost of energy, I am looking at a possible system to generate enough solar + capitalising low night tariff of grid to power my entire home. Dont know if this is feasible. Thanks for your education and help. God Bless.

Hi Nikki, the system can easily power a home. I did have issues with a washer machine. It would power it but not work correctly. I think I needed to buy a ground plug. Others have gotten the washer to work. No you can use the wires already in your home using a generator transfer switch. This will remove grid power and take advantage of you generator. Hope this helps.

Thank you for sharing your setup! I have a question on the reliance transfer switch. Don't I need to turn off the main breaker (grid) in order to use the transfer switch? Or, can the transfer switch power up connected devices independently from Bluetti while the grid is on?
@OffGridSolarSmartHouse
@OffGridSolarSmartHouse 6 ай бұрын
No problem. When the transfer switch is tied Into the main electrical panel breakers you can leave the breaks on. You can switch it from grid to generator or off via transfer switch. If you turn the breaker off on your main electrical panel no power will flow on transfer switch or main panel.

Hey, I'm looking to buy a Bluetti power station with a B300 battery. Although I don't have a solar panel, I'm interested in installing a transfer switch. I have a question regarding its functionality. If I connect the Bluetti power station to the transfer switch, can I also keep it connected to charge with the grid? I intend to use it as a backup power source, similar to a UPS. Is it possible for the Bluetti power station to automatically provide power to my condo if the grid power goes out, just like a UPS does?
@OffGridSolarSmartHouse
@OffGridSolarSmartHouse Жыл бұрын
You can have the Bluetti getting power from the grid to keep it charged. You can have the AC turned on the Bluetti going through your transfer switch to power breakers. Obviously you wouldn't want one of the breakers that charges the Bluetti to go through the transfer switch.

Hi, what size wire are you using for the solar power? I bought 14awg wire and it seems to be losing a lot of efficiency. I'm not up to scratch on electrical things. Can you steer me in the right direction. In theory my panels can generate a maximum of 750 watts. They are himo 4 375w if that helps. Should I go for a thicker wire? The adapter on the acmax is 14 awg, that's why I chose that particular size.

It's not to hard to learn. You can google certain appliances to get an idea of how much power an item uses. I will try to explain an easy scenario. A tv draws 150 watts an hour and a light draws 10 watts. a total of 160 watts an hour. This is 0.16 Kilowatt-Hours of power used. If you run the Tv and light for 6 and a half hours you would use around 1 Kilowatt-Hour. I hope this helps.

These things are making solar so much easier than traditional setups, where you had to get all the seperate parts like panels, charge controllers, batteries and inverters seperately, then wire them all together. There was a risk of fires if you didn't do it right, and professional installers charged through the nose. These new systems are more expensive for the power you get out, but most of the parts (except the panels) are all in one box, along with all of the safety cutouts you need. We're right at the beginning of a revolution in renewables!
